If time matters, you might check the cheapo European airlines. There are several, including Ryanair at http://www.ryanair.co.uk/
For starters, click on the blue and red France.com at the top of this page. When you get to the home page, on the right side of your screen you will see an "Airfares" button. Click on Airfares and do a search with your dates. Be sure to choose "all" London airports (LON) so it won’t put you only at Heathrow. They usually have excellent fares but leave from Stansted or Gatwick airports that are farther out than Heathrow.
Next, back at the blue and red France.com there is another button for "Trains." Check the schedules and prices for those. It will give you a good idea of what is available.
http://www.oratory.com/onebag/industry.html is a web site that gives you links to nearly all the airlines flying. Go through and find ones based in the UK and check their rates.
Thanks SalB I’ll try your advice.
Maria.
The cheapest way is probably cheap air planes as was stated up here, u can also check http://www.easyjet.com and check they’re rates, I think they are one of the cheapest and verry nice to flight with.
Now the problem with those company is get to the plane and once u’re in London, go inton london. Sometimes it is the right airport, most of the time it is not and it takes forever to get into the city. Now the Eurostar is maybe a bit more expensive but u are right in the middle of London instantly and if u count the trip to the airport Eurostar should be the same time!!! But really less tired at the end, and really it worth it!
ManuNice is correct. The cheap airlines fly into Gatwick and Stansted airports and they are much farther out of London than Heathrow. Check the France.com Airfare search and see what you can find into Heathrow. From Heathrow you can take a subway (the Tube) directly into London and it’s very inexpensive.
Either Gatwick or Stansted has a shuttle but I have no idea how much it costs. I suspect you could Google Gatwick and Stansted and find the airport web sites. You will have to pay more for a shuttle and you will have to spend time on the shuttle so ManuNice makes a very good point.
Check the France.com Airfares and then check the Eurostar. That way you can make an informed decision and decide which is more important, time or money . . . or perhaps you can win on both counts!
Thank you very much for your advise. What can you tell me about the train-ferry-train option?
Maria
I really hope someone from France picks up on this because I have no idea. I don’t even have a web site for the ferry although I’m sure you could Google it or check ads in a magazine for web sites. You would have to get point-to-point fares to the ferry, then the ferry fare, then point-to-point from the ferry to London . . . and then back again.
Hopefully, someone here can help you. It sounds complicated and very time consuming because you would have to make all those changes.
Good luck!
