I find it dispicable that French fans would spit on Lance Armstrong because their favorite is losing to him. The favorite so far does not have what it takes, and the fans are acting very childish. I think anyone caught spitting should be arrested for assault, as the human mouth is the dirtiest part of the body (germ wise) and who knows what they could expose Lance Armstrong or anyone else to (for that matter). There are several deadly viruses that can be transmitted through human saliva, especially if there is any open sore in the spitter’s mouth. The fans should be polite and not nasty and CRUDE. They may not cheer for him, but they certainly do not need to spit on him. Also for anyone’s information, I am of French descent.

arrested for spitting on somebody? What country are you from? Singapore??
No, but have you heard of HIV+/AIDS or Hepatitis B. Obviusly not or you would not make such a comment. I am from the USA and am PROUD of it. Their spitting can be grounds for an assault charge of knowingly putting someone’s life in danger (especially if they have either virus and know it). Get educated before you respond so idiotically next time.
dude, get off LSD NOW, it makes you paranoid.
CRC
well you can get arrested for assault here in the US for spitting on some one.I dont think you can in france im not sure. But i think it is stupid to spit on him but thats life, theregood fans and theres bad fans.
Forum: Usually spitting (in the USA) is a fine and a one or two game suspension. Donerail
ooo ya i forgot a bout that lol.Well if you spit on some one out side a game and on the streets and a cop is near by you get arrested cant you?I know in the town i live in you can but may be it depends on the state you live in?
crc95: Why do they make the Tour de France so difficult to understand? Why not start at "Point A" and finish at "Point B." The first person to complete it wins. "Armstrong finished way back in the pack yesterday but still maintained his 4 minute 9 second lead." What??? I guess thats good if you can pull it off. No wonder he wins year after year. Donerail
Donerail, I’m sorry but frankly I’m not the right person to ask this question to. I hate the Tour de France, and I hate to see it on TV, it’s been one of my pet peeves since my childhood. All I can say is I don’t know what idiots are spitting on Legstrongs, but generally the French like him, they appreciate his modest hard-working, discreet style. And I don’t see how they could be jealous of him, since we’ve not had any real cycling hero for like twenty-year.
CRC
and by the way : the Tour, difficult to understand ??
Helloooo, base-ball games ??
CRC
goofymason: if you want to arrest people for spitting, go live in Singapore, or better yet, RUSSIA or CHINA. I’m sure the draconian laws you suggest are in place there. You might feel more comfortable living in a country that legislates every aspect of your life. Idiot…
In the USA, if a person who has AIDS or Hepatitis B knowingly does anything to another person that puts their life in danger, can be charged with assault with a deadly weapon. As a nurse I do not think it outrageous for someone to be charged in that way. But you, as an uninformed idiot may not believe so. Lance Armstrong has already had his immune system compromised by treatment for cancer and he certainly does not need anyone spitting on him. Get some medical knowledge before you spout off your ignorance!!!
goofymason: I have not seen much press on people spitting on Lance Armstrong. You seem to be rather high strung over what may have been a non event. Having been to France a number of times, I can almost assure you that folks who turn out for the Tour de France would not likely be spitting on anyone.
crc95: Baseball is the sport of all civilized mankind. It is a very complex sport and the center of it is in Boston with the Red Sox. This has been taught to me since I was a small child. I would not try to run some jive by you in that regard. Donerail
goofymason: This is a FRENCH forum…a Pro-France forum. Why are you coming in here and slandering France? If you’re so PROUD to be American, then go to an AMERICAN site where you can all flaunt your supposed American superiority. Oh, by the way, any chance you’re related to that murderous nurse we read about in the media who murdered upwards of 20 people?
Racist slime that you are….
BTW, I spit on you….
donerail: some people are just bizarre….i think they come from the Ikorrelim/Sweird School of Illogical Thinking….LOL
LVB, I think you’re just wasting your time replying to her (assuming she’s a her) … she just seems to be obsessed with the act of SPITTING … kinda like donerail when he was obsessed by amero-franc … mmm, interesting …
CRC
crc95: I would use the term "facinated" as opposed to "obsessed." I read an article in the Boston paper this morning that indicates the French are obsessed with the Tour de France. Apparently, though, they can’t accept the fact that Armstrong is so good and is not on some form of performance enhancing drugs. I know, it is too broad of a generalization.
LaVieilleBranche: Have you been too deeply into the kir again?
Donerail
Guys,
Bicker all you want. The fact remains: Lance Armstrong made history today. Berets off to a really incredible feat, wouldn’t you say?
There is indeed something fascinating with an American (and a Texan to boot) mesmerizing the whole of France right on the Champs-Elysees…
I’m not too much into sports but such a story makes me wonder if I have not missed something. Go Lance! Seven in a row!!!
jnf,
again, the whole ‘the French against Lance’ thing was all made up by the US medias that just LOVE to play with the anti-French feeling currently going among Bubbas in your country. Although I didn’t really follow the Tour, since I resent it, I’ve never heard of any acts of anger against Lance … at least coming from the French, but you might want to ask LeMond. All I heard in the French medias was rather ‘wow he’s winning a sixth Tour’ or ‘hey will he be there next year after US Postal dumps him ‘ or ‘look he’s kissing Sheryl Crow’. Again, the French rather love Lance’s style, hard working, enduring, and modest. And I don’t see why they’d be jealous, since there are not hot French cyclers competing.
I guess what the medias are doing in the US is trying to show how the nasty French put their resentment against Bush into an anti-Lance campaign. But again, that’s not true, even if there are some similarities between Dubya and Lance (both from Texas – both cycling fans – both looking like retarded chimps). After all, Lance was there way before George W.
CRC
CRC,
I’m not sure how this was shown on the US media, but it would indeed be a poor idea to use this event for political reasons, although I’m sure Fox Sports does it. I do not believe the French have anything against Lance. Some do, for sure, but not the majority. All the interviews I’ve heard today on the French radio and TV said the same thing: "He’s the best. It’s normal he won".
It still makes for a fascinating story…
jnf
donerail: no, I’m not to deep into the kirs. However, I really don’t like idiots who come into a pro-France site and start slandering the French with NO PROOF to back up anything they say. Then they start saying how wonerful they are just because they’re American.
These people need to shut up and move on.
LaVieilleBranche: This is the internet. I think your expectations are misguided. Lighten up on the kir.
crc95: The Boston Globe (hardly an anti-French paper) had pictures of fans (presumably French) giving Lance the "finger" and "thumbs down" sign as he went down some street on the 16th or 17th leg. For what its worth, thats not too bad. I would imagine over here there would be folks throwing batteries and bottles at a Frenchman if he or she was winning a similar event. Especially if it was in New York. Donerail
Donerail, like you wrote before there are stupid fans everywhere. I remember going to see Olympique Lyonnais play against Association Sportive de Saint-Etienne, and give them the finger as well whenever I could (however, this is different, since those slimy scumbags from Saint-Etienne definitely deserve it).
CRC
crc95: If Saint-Etienne is the French equivalent of New York I can understand what you meant. Our beloved Red Sox just scored 27 runs against the Yankees this weekend. Life is good. Donerail
donerail: 1 kir a day does not a lush make…
however, since that idiot goofymason is gone now, I can smile again
New York is not anti-French at all. It’s just the opposite. They love French food, culture and the people. French restaurants are packed with diners here. Yves Saint Laurent, Dior and Chanel do a brisk business here. Plenty of Frenchmen live in NYC and they’re not suffering discrimination because of their nationality. On the contrary, the men are always getting hit upon by American (NYC) women who want a French guy. I know the feeling
The City Council of NYC passed a resolution last year condemning the Iraq war before it had begun. Obviously this resolution means nothing to the Washington political crowd, but it speaks volumes about the people and the NYC governing council and their views.
When Kerry gets elected, he can begin to fix the international rift between the USA and the rest of the world. A USA president who speaks fluent french. Would be great!
In the news today : the retarded chimp fell off his bike AGAIN ! I think it’s time to remove this hazardous thing from his hands before it’s too late !
CRC
I am not gone nor am I an idiot. I work for a living. Do You? Obviously not!!! Obviously the Kir affects you more than you realize (a lot of my clients have or have had a substance abuse problem – alcohol being a main substance of abuse). I work as an RN with clients whose view of the world is so skewed that they are no longer accepted in their home communities. Even they have learned through loss of privileges that spitting on ANYONE is not acceptable. I think that you would fit right in with my clients who are psychiatrically unstable to return home.
goofymason: considering your last reply, saying I have a substance abuse problem when I don’t, making generalizations about France with NO PROOF to back up anything you say (of COURSE you don’t have to prove anything you say, you’re a PROUD American, we all know AMERICANS never LIE, especially when it comes to other countries), I would say it is YOU who is the idiot.
You seem to have quite a problem managing anger properly. If I were you I’d see a psychiatrist. You appear to have serious mental problems.
You never did reply to my question about that murderous nurse…
crc: just give us a few more months. November will be here sooner than you think.
If you could read you would see that I did. Go read word by word and take time to look up the meanings.
goofymason, I have to agree with LVB. You obviously carry some kind of disorder, at least by that spitting obsession of yours. Maybe you ought to talk to someone ? I don’t think we’re qualified enough to help you here.
CRC
crc i couldn’t agree more
Hoping to go to Paris at Christmas again this year. If not, then I’ll be cruising to Quebec City. It is a 12 hour drive, at most, from my house. That isn’t so bad.
America should embrace the French habit of having brasseries/cafes in every town. Imagine, being able to get a great meal, GOOD COFFEE!! and socialize at the same time, all for a reasonable price…Let’s not forget the occassional kir
America would be a nicer place if every town had a brasserie
goofymason: Doctor Donerail is in The House. I have treated many deranged posters on this site and I would be only to happy to help you. Tell me, when did you first notice your spitting fetish?
LaVieilleBranche: Don’t forget about those fabulous frommageries and bourcheries. And LaDuree. And Pain du Chocolate. Those tarts. And the wine.
Donerail
donerail: a good brasserie has a well stocked kitchen/pantry of cheese, bread, wine, charcuterie products, etc…so of COURSE that would all be there
Laudree! We need a Laudree in NYC…we already have a Fauchon in NYC (yes, that’s right, a FAUCHON in NYC!).
Now, if we could only get a Gerard Darel here then things would be perfect
LaVieilleBranche: I always thought a brasserie had something to do with ladies lengerie. I think Amero-franc told me that. Donerail
donerail: If i may quote SalB, Stop being so……….Guy!!
LVB, In this case, you may quote me!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
LVB/SalB: You two would make a good pair on the picket lines. Donerail
