I suspect everyone who answers will come up with a different place in France. We all have different favorites for different reasons and different tastes.

If you are looking for greenery, you could go almost anyplace in France and be fine. Do you like mountains? How about the seashore? Perhaps some nice lake country? Would you like rivers and streams, museums, old churches and abbeys, modern architecture, wine country, colorful sailboats, extreme sports? Let us know your interests and perhaps we can head you in the right direction.

I don’t think I could pick a personal favorite. We’ve spent a lot of time in Provence and really like it. But . . . we’ve spent a lot of time in Burgundy and really like it. And . . . we’ve spent a lot of time in the Pyrenees and really like them. The list goes on. I will say that we have rented a house in Basse Normandy for a month next fall and we could have rented one anyplace in France. We’ve never stayed put for an entire month before so this is an experiment. The reason we picked Normandy was that we thought it would be apple harvest time in Normandy and that really appealed to us.

So . . . when you plan to go might also be a factor in considering where you want to go.
