I don’t know what coverage the US News and Press gave Mr. Bush’s reaction to Arafat’s death, but news programs in Europe showed that film from when Mr. Bush was first told about it (at a new conference) and showed it many times. Reporter: "Mr. Bush, Arafat is dead". Response from Mr. Bush "Good". Unfortunately that sort of comment sends a very clear indication as to the sort of person the US has a president.
Mr. Bush seems to have no concern about what the world (outside the US) thinks of him. The rest of the world is of secondary importance. I think it a naive view as Americas prosperity is dependant on the rest of the world and vice versa.

js: This is the first I hear of a film that shows Bush responding, "Good" on the news of Arafat’s death. I live in the NY region and that film was never shown here on national news. It might have been shown on CNN, however, we don’t subscribe to all those cable tv channels here.
Consider yourself lucky. You people on the other side of the pond only have to deal with Bush on foreign affairs. We have to put up with his foreign affairs and domestic ajenda, which will ruin the USA. It’s a double edged sword for us here.
LVB/js: GWB is not a threat to the brain trust. Having said that, how can anyone reasonably heap praise on Arafat. By most accounts that I have read, Arafat was a killer and not that courageous one at that. The world will be a better place without him. The same is true with Saddam Hussein, Richard Nixon, Edi Amin and Menachem Begin. Donerail
Donerail:
You forgot to include George W., Rummy, Wolfie, Pearl, and of course…the almighty Cheney…
ikorrellim: You are correct. I just didn’t want to put all the Bushies in the front row. Donerail
let’s put the Bush crowd in the front row and throw pies in their face…what do y’all think? Then have pit bulls lick the pies off them
