France.com was registered 20 years ago today, preceding the births of Internet giants such as  Amazon.com, Ebay, Google, Facebook and Twitter.
Starting in 1994, France.com was a pioneer in the use of the Internet for publication: it was the first company to distribute a daily French national newspaper on the Internet (Le Monde); the first to publish an online travel guide to France; the first to create an online hotel booking engine. Its other early innovations include the first viral success of the French-speaking Internet (Les Webs d’Or), and the world’s first hotel comments platform (a la TripAdvisor).
The leading travel website to France, France.com is the oldest online travel agency still under the same management.
The first 20 years of France.com existence have been incredibly exciting, fun and challenging. We’ve been trailblazers, and have made friends with our customers all around the world, and our partners in France. We’ve witnessed the birth of the Internet from the inside. We’ve visited some of the most beautiful spots in France, and we tasted some of the most unique and delicious foods around. We’ve learned so much about wine, history, geography and culture to enrich our lives forever. Along the way, we’ve shared this passion and helped hundreds of thousands of travelers to France return with memories of a lifetime. We’ve been touched by your trust and kindness, and the sincere appreciation you have shown for our work.

Née au tout début de l’Internet (avant même l’apparition du Web), France.com se distingue, dès sa création avec le lancement de services innovants et uniques: elle a été la première société à distribuer sur Internet un quotidien national Français (Le Monde, en 1994), la première à publier un guide du voyage en France sur le web, la première à créer un moteur de réservation de chambres d’hotels. Parmi ses autres créations, on peut également retenir le premier succès viral de l’Internet Francophone (les Webs d’Or), et la première plateforme de commentaires des voyageurs sur la qualité des hotels visités (à la TripAdvisor)
