Saint-Rémy-de-Provence, a village in the heart of Provence (located between Avignon, Nîmes, Arles and Aix-en-Provence) which astounded Van Gogh in the late 19th century, is a perfect base to explore France’s most cherished region. Built in the early nineteenh century the chateau belonged to one of the oldest families in Arles, the Pichots. It became a real rendez-vous for politicians, writers, poets and painters, who stayed here. Today, it is one of the most refined addresses in Provence.
