Some on this forum keep leaping to the support of a Mr. George Bush (President, Commander-in-Chief, all round "good-guy". Presumably to show his educational level and feelings towards the French a famous quote of his (that may not have been reported on by pro-Bush press in the US) is:
"The trouble with the French is that they have no word for Entrepreneur". This was a dead serious statement he made (i.e. not a joke).

js : I found your quote so funny that I tried to retrieve its source. Well, turns out there isn’t any, and this might just be another internet hoax. There’s even a website that claims Tony "51st Governor" Blair said it. I’ll try to do a little more research on this.

… that said, George "retarded chimp" Bush could have very well pronounced such a brilliant speech

I got it from the UK radio (Radio 4 – the news and current affairs station) – they were reviewing the background to GW’s international policies (serious documentary stuff, not humour).
It was also published in a UK book about Mr. Bush (again a factual book, not humour), though I don’t have the book and was driving when they reviewed the book (and I’m afraid I didn’t write it down).
I cannot personally vouch for the comment (as I didn’t see e.g. him say it on TV), but was not on Internet.

http://www.bbc.co.uk/bbcthree/news/7oclocknews/features/bush_141103.shtml sorry, but don’t know how much people know about the UK – the BBC is a nationwide TV/Radio provider (government funded but not (very) government controlled). They have a good reputation for reliability so stuff they present as news is factually (any reporter opinion is always clearly identified as opinion) and can generally be given serious consideration. This page also has quite a few other good GW quotes.
Possibly less "reliable" links (from a factual basis) but with quite a few amusing things:

Sounds like Dan Quayle to me. Entrepreneur is a French word and good old Dan would never figure that out. I’m sure Reagen and Bush wouldn’t either.
BTW, it’s listed in my French dictionary as a building contractor . . . not exactly its English meaning!

js : interesting also what this guy says at
http://www-csli.stanford.edu/~nunberg/compromise.html
… a remark that George W. Bush was supposed to have made to Tony Blair, "The problem with the French is that they have no word for ‘entrepreneur.’"
After the list appeared, though, a spokesman for the Prime Minister denied that Bush ever said anything of the sort. I believe him — the line really sounds too pat to be true, like a story the English would cook up to put in the mouth of an ignorant American.
SalB : un entrepreneur is someone who establishes and runs a business (une entreprise), it is also often linked to the construction business, like in the expression entrepreneur de travaux publics (building project contractor).

I heard that kfouler5 has no idea what this thread is all about. There are good internet sites that have The Chimp’s actual audio. LOL funny. Bush is making Dan Quayle look like a Rhodes schollar. I’m sure things will get better in the Happy New Year. Donerail
