Hi, My friend and I are joining a winery tour to Chablis and Burgundy the late August. We are thinking to stop over to Paris for Friday-Sunday before we head up to Chablis.
In the Forum, I found that Normandie and Loire sounds interesting, are they public transportation accessible? Is train convenient?. IS day trip doable?
Also, we know nothing about lodging, such as B&B, hotel. Should we find some here close to train station? Any idea?

Winnie, have you ever been to Paris before? If you have not, you might want to spend your weekend in Paris. There is so much to see and to do there.
If you've been to Paris and want to see something new, both Normandy and the Loire are great. You almost need a car to enjoy them, but you could find a hotel near a train station and then visit villages that are on the train line. The stations are nearly all in the center of town so it is easy to do that. You can check trains at http://www.sncf.com/
If you just want to do day trips, choose places close to Paris. Chartres and Versailles come immediately to mind. I don't know your interests, but check the train web site and see if any stations nearby have things that interest you.
You can use the hotel search function right here on France.com to find your hotel. We've booked through them for years and never had a problem.

Yes, you can do the Loire Valley via TGV from Paris Montparnasse in 1 hours, but when you get here you will need to either book a Tour or hire a car as most of the chateaus are quite a distance apart. You can visit Tours for the day, but I would recommend you stay in Paris and enjoy all the wonderful activities there. If you want to see the Loire you are better staying 2 nights and resting at a chateau and exploring the countryside. You can see a list of activities in Paris and the Loire at http://www.myweekin.net. Don't forget there are great day trips from Paris, as mentioned above also Champagne, Giverny etc. Bon route!
