I am having trouble regarding train travel in france and between france and germany.
When I search online I am able to find Rail Europe, Eurail, and Euro Railways.
They all seem to offer the same kind of packages…but searching for specific trains produces different results. Also, some of them have night trains and some dont, and some require reservations and some dont. And I am not sure if a reservation needs to be booked now, before I leave for my trip…or when I get to the station and ready to go? I am so confused!
I was wondering if anyone can explain which of these is better and how to go about bookings. I'm finding it extremely confusing! 🙁
**my main concern is getting from Paris to Munich and back – hopefully on evening trains. I have to be back in Paris – Airport no later than 8am on a Sunday!

You might check both the French and German train web sites. I find the German one easier to navigate but if you're starting from France, you may want to start at the French web site. Here are both web addresses.
http://www.sncf.com/ (If you don't speak French, look for the English link which will either say English or have a British flag to click.)

The TGV is the high speed French train and you may prefer that if you are in a hurry. You will need to reserve a seat for TGV or first class but you can do that when you buy your ticket; you don't need to purchase ahead of time. Unless you are traveling on a major holiday, you should have no trouble getting your tickets when you are ready to travel.
