I remember when I was a kid, when we’d go and visit my grandparents, my grandpa would usually open a bottle of white wine — my grandpa’s family is originally from Savoie, so they’ve always had a thing for white wine. Well, after I turned about 12 or 13, I remember my grandpa starting to offer me the glass of wine, too. And when I would refuse (I started enjoying wine quite late, and never really had the thing for white wine anyway), my grandpa would have this disappointed look in his eyes. As for my parents, they wouldn’t really bother.

2 Read Morehi all,
I’m travelling to France for the second time with my boyfriend in May 2005. We are looking forward to it greatly and are hoping to go from Paris down south to Provence and also to visit the French Alps. From there we will travel across to Germany. This should allow us about 3 weeks in France
We’re trying to flexible so have not booked any accommodation outside of Paris.

We will be arriving from Caen at the Paris St. Lazare station and leaving for Brussels from Paris Nord. I’m wondering how long we should allow for the transfer between these two stations. Would 50 minutes be enough, or would 1 or 2 hours be better? The Die Bahn rail site lists 50 minutes for the transfer but I’m wondering if that would be enough, for two people who may be a little slow at figuring out where we should be as we have never traveled in France. Please let me know what you think. Thank you all for your help!

Do you prefer those to the TGV? Just curious.
Some of the fares I’ve seen have been amazing. The only thing that might bother me is that you don’t get to see the countryside between cities and, of course, with the train you land in the city center.
