However, recently there seems to have been some rather less constructive debate. People taking needless offence. When I receive comments like so go away with your opinions on how we do things…unless you want Britain want your a– kicked again I realise how many US people really are (plus other not dissimilar comments). (I do not take offence at this comment).
I’m afraid that this forum to a degree has re-enforced the US stereotype prevalent in Europe (certainly the UK).

Some on this forum keep leaping to the support of a Mr. George Bush (President, Commander-in-Chief, all round "good-guy". Presumably to show his educational level and feelings towards the French a famous quote of his (that may not have been reported on by pro-Bush press in the US) is:
"The trouble with the French is that they have no word for Entrepreneur". This was a dead serious statement he made (i.e. not a joke).

So many Americans think we spend an inordinate amount on foreign aid without out looking at what and where. We spend it where we think we will gain the most from it. That’s not charity. Spending it where it is most needed is charity. It also elucidates promises broken.
It’s a very interesting article.

Over the past few years, France has won the reputation as being the leading anti-American voice of the Western world. Of late, news has been trickling out of France which suggests that President Chirac has taken his opposition to the U.S. to a new level. One example includes allowing the pro-Ba’th pro-Saddam group "La Resistance" to operate out of Paris. The group’s main goal is to support killing U.S. troops in Iraq.

To combat the problem, NASA scientists spent a decade and $12 billion to develop a pen that writes in zero gravity, upside down, underwater, on almost any surface including glass and at temperatures ranging from below freezing to 300o C. The Russians used a pencil.

I’m new to France.com and I would really like a male and female penpal from France about my age (15-16).
Sorry my French isn?t very good! I would really like to practice it and I can help with English!
I hope to hear from people soon!
À bientôt!
Hi, I’m new to France.com and am so glad that I have found the site. I have previously lived and studied in France and hope to go back some day. Does anyone have any advice on how to get a job there without taking the "TESL" route?

Reporter: "Mr. Bush, Arafat is dead". Response from Mr. Bush "Good". Unfortunately that sort of comment sends a very clear indication as to the sort of person the US has a president.
Mr. Bush seems to have no concern about what the world (outside the US) thinks of him. The rest of the world is of secondary importance. I think it a naive view as Americas prosperity is dependant on the rest of the world and vice versa.
