Hi Everybody-
I am planning my first trip to Paris + BeNeLux, and would like to know if I can travel these countries via Eurail and not book a hotel? I will arrive Paris mid January, stay in a hotel for 1-2 days, then depart via Eurail (selectpass) and see northern countries and france countryside. Then I will return to Paris, stay in a hotel for 1-2 days, then return home.
Is it crazy to not have a hotel lined up while travelling on Eurail? Or should I seek out hostels along the way?
Any suggestions on visiting these countries via rail, what to see, would be deeply appreciated. I am interested in architecture, nature/landscape, markets, great food (but not elegant nor expensive ) and getting to know the people as much as I can.
Sincere Thanks,
Ed in Chicago, IL.

udon master:
Your trip will be a blast. Check out sncf.com for the skinny on rail travel. Personnally, I like to have a hotel lined up only because my wife demands and is terrified of not having a place lined up to stay at. I would just as soon "wing it" which is most possible. Again, the French infrastructure of rail and close by hotels should present no problem. Regards, Donerail
Thanks so much!
