I just checked my settings and they are the same as they have been. They worked before! Go down to the bottom of the Forum and look in "Technical Difficulties" and in "France.com Growing Pains" and tell me if there is anything in it.
Mine says the last post was May 16 (Yes, I know it is currently May 15) and also says "This category is currently empty" when I click on it. Since I posted something, I know it’s not empty and the fact that it says there was a post May 16 (mine) indicates there is something there.
I can access via "Today’s" and Last 24 Hours" but I have to keep posting to stay within the 24 hour limit so I can get the answers. I hope this is a computer glitch and not an "improvement" in the web design.
Do you click on the Forum or do you use the "Today’s" and "Last 24 Hours" buttons?

Keeping the post within 24 hours so I can access it. )

Hello Salb and all,
Your posts are definitely not being edited out. We’re having problems correcting the problem you mention, because it does not reproduce itself here. I think that one thing that’s possible is that ther’s a slight delay sometimes between the time you post a message and its display on the forum. But it should really be no more than 3 minutes.
When you get the disappearing category, could you please let us know what shows up in your address bar? We’d like to make the forums feel as friendly as they can, certainly a computer glitch should not make you feel unwelcome.
Hope this is all of some help. I think I got most of them. I don’t check the Penpals section so don’t know what is happening there.
Good luck!!

One last one: Under "Welcome to the Forums" it lists 33 topics and when you click on it you get the message, "This category is currently empty." The URL is https://visitfrance.travel/mb/categories.cfm?catid=2
I’ve notice that has been listed as an empty category for a long time because every once in a while I’ve checked it for information and there was nothing there.
I’m not sure it’s my computer because it was pretty obvious Amero-Franc was having the same problem. He’s an experienced poster and wouldn’t have put the same post four times unless he felt it wasn’t getting posted.
At the end it says "NoCookies=Yes." Could that be the problem? If so, how do I change it because it’s not in my settings and I don’t have my Netscape browser set for no cookies.

I tried to access French Culture Today by clicking on the title and got the first of two URLs below. Then I accessed French Culture Today by clicking on the subject under "Today’s" and got the second URL. You can compare the two URLs. The first listed an empty category and the second gave me the thread. Perhaps this is of some help.
This is indeed very helpful, and we can confirm this is not happening on your computer only. We see the same thing here.
Thanks for reporting this. Time to get this fixed. We’ll let you know as soon as we know for sure that it’s done.

Thank goodness. I’m somewhat addicted to the forum and was having withdrawal symptoms. There’s the teeny feeling of rejection setting in too . . . ah, sweet relief.

SalB,
As posted in the other forum, the problem seems to be fixed now. I write ‘seems" because until you confirm that everything is back to normal, we don’t want to give you any false joy.
Anyway, please report if you’re still seeing incoherent behaviour by our forums…

Well, it was fine yesterday and the posts have disappeared again today. Sunspots???????????????

I think everything is actually where it’s supposed to be but you’ve corrected your date and time mechanism so newer posts are underneath older posts because your dates had been incorrect. Obviously this will correct itself in 24 hours and everything should appear in reverse chronological order . . . as I have in my settings.
This has certainly been a learning experience.

SalB,
You’re correct. There is still some strange behavior, although it’s not as incoherent as it seems. Today posts are showing up as if they were posted yesterday, but it’s due to an unrelated problem that has already been fixed.
You won’t see that tomorrow.
You got to love computers… Always the joksters, aren’t they?

What a relief to have things working normally. Congratulations.
I received a message from my Internet carrier that they had deleted a post with a virus. Perhaps you had a virus. There seem to be a lot going around lately.
If people spent more time traveling, they wouldn’t have time to do destructive things!!

SalB,
This had nothing to do with a virus and everything to do with a computer internal clock gone beserk. Nothing too bad really, except it put things out of whack for a little time. Thanks for reporting it, that’s how we were able to fix it.
We all need to travel more, no question about it. But in this case the problems were not coming from aggressive behaviour, and it’s so rare in the world we live in, isn’t it?

France.com
Thank goodness . . . Help is on the way!!!!!!!!!!
Here is a start:
Under Current Affairs, click French Culture Today (only choice) and get the message "This category is currently empty." The address bar above reads https://visitfrance.travel/France.comforums/categories.cfm?catid=20
I’ll check the others and give them to you one at a time. Thank you for the help.
Under France-USA rift. For how long?
It lists 11 topics but has only 10. I can’t remember if there is another one or not. (Senior moment)
Under Travel Help, subject "Château de Chaumont" is missing and can be found under the "Today’s" button with the following URL
https://visitfrance.travel/France.comforums/messageview.cfm?catid=8&threadid=553
Also under Travel Help. There should be a new topic "Favorite Places in Normandy" and it isn’t there. It can be found under "Last 24 Hours" and the URL is https://visitfrance.travel/mb/messageview.cfm?catid=8&threadid=555
Also under Travel Help. Topic "France by Motorbike" is missing. It can be found under "Last 24 Hours" and the URL is https://visitfrance.travel/mb/messageview.cfm?catid=8&threadid=538
Under Talk. One of the four Château de Chaumont posts is missing and can be accessed via "Last 24 Hours" with the URL https://visitfrance.travel/mb/messageview.cfm?catid=14&threadid=552
Under Technical Difficulties . . . which says "This category is currently empty" . . . the post named "Posts disappear . . . where do they go?" can be found under "Last 24 Hours" with the URL https://visitfrance.travel/mb/messageview.cfm?catid=4&threadid=547
Hope this is all of some help. I think I got most of them. I don’t check the Penpals section so don’t know what is happening there.
