Hello I am looking to avoid the lines at Versailles. I want to purchase a ticket online that includes both versailles and the train ride to the castle.
I have heard that one exists and would like to arrive in Paris with the ticket in my pocket. Does anyone know where I can get one online?
Thanks

I’m sure you can get it for a price. However, why not get it at a Metro station when you arrive in Paris. Why pay extra?
What you want is a "Carte Musees Monuments" (museum pass) for Paris. That will get you past the lines at the Versailles, the Louvre, the d’Orsay and 67 other Paris attractions. You simply flash your pass, walk past the line and enter. It’s great. They are sold at all the museums but the easiest place to get it is at the major Metro stations. (You do not have to buy a Metro ticket to get the pass.)
I don’t know where you’re staying, but the St. Michel-Notre Dame station and the Chatelet station will definitely have them . . . along with the RER ticket you will need. (You want to take the RER C5 line to the Versailles Rive Gauche station. Exit the station and you have a 5 to 10 minute walk to the chateau. It’s well marked.)
You can check all the ticket/pass options at http://www.ratp.fr which is the web site for the Metro and RER trains.
Be aware that at certain times of the year, the pass will not get you into absolutely everything at Versailles. However, it will get you into most of Versailles, certainly enough to keep you busy for an entire day. Here’s the Versailles web site in English. You can get info there. http://www.chateauversailles.fr/en/
Good luck and have fun.
Thanks very much
