Hi, Karen. You can go to the home page here on France.com (click on the blue and red visitfrance.travel at the top of this page) and at the top of your screen on the left is a search window. Type in apartments and click on the search button. You will come up with 144 links to various places that rent apartments that have been checked by the people who run this web site. (No, I don’t work for them.) You can read the intro and see which ones cover Nice. Any of these should be safe.

Also recommended are Citadines Apartments and you will have to do a Google (or other, like Yahoo) search for those.

Another option and one we have used is the Gites de France web site. They rent some apartments and lots of small to large houses all over France. They are highly reputable. Their web site is http://www.gites-de-france.fr/eng/
I must admit they use regional sites for their reservations and some are much more user friendly than others, but the places are fine.

We have also had wonderful luck at http://www.holiday-rentals.com/
We used them for a wonderful property in Italy last autumn and have recently rented a beautiful little house in Normandy. They cover all price ranges and all sizes and their web site is easy to use.
