This is a sad day for me, a sad thay for Human kind, a sad day for our planet, and unfortunatly, I think american people will realize their mistake way too late, off course I hope not, but i’m quiet sure that the consequence of this present day will be catastrophic for the futur generation, and as a futur dad (next may) I am really scared for my children now.
53% of the american people where a huge disapointment to me today.
What can I say…

There is nothing to say ManuNice…..I couldn’t sleep last night at all,and as usual, lies always win…and people who voted for Bush, are a category apart
eceivers, selfish, ignorant, hypocrites, liers, they are not americans, they are bastards. One day will catch up with them all,but I know it will be to late to go back.
It is a sad day and bad times will follow for the whole world.
Stupidity is such a dangerous enemy to mankind.
You have the right to be ashamed and disappointed,we’ll be living under a despotic reign of terror…the terror doesn’t come from outside but from inside.

Manu,
Sorry, but it was 51%
Crazy,
I hate to tell you this, but the time it catches up with the U.S. most of s will be dead. And guess what, that is why we Americans don’t care.
If you are really so ashamed to be an American, and it really distruaght’s you that Bush won, take you French heritage and G.T.F.O. of my country.
I am proud of my country, right or wrong. Ask someone from the middle-east when was the last time they voted?
Dholland,
you’re right, the Democrat party doesn’t stand for anything. The Dems just don’t understand that most Americans see things as black & white and are religious god fearing people with values and morals. The Dems need to get rid of the Mcalliffe guy & the Clintons period, they are like a cancer to the Dems. And for GODS SAKE keep Howard Dean away from the Democratic Party.
Dholland,
thats right, if these French morons don’t get it then they can always go back home to France. They jusy don’t understand that the U.S. is our country and we decide in which direction it goes as a people, and when the decision is made we back our leaders.
kfowler5 and dholland2: How Right you are!! Praise Jesus. The Democratic party should be outlawed and their followers sent to a camp to teach them the Right ways to think and behave. Praise the Baby Jesus. Those scumbags are just too in love with Wellfare Moms, Junkies, Blacks, and Queers. Praise Gawd Almighty. Those pinko commie, tree hugging queers – what should we do with them?? And how about those women who have the nerve to talk back to us?? Judas!! And those vile people who violate the sanctity of marriage by getting a piece of ass on the side or who actually divorce?? I say hang em. Hang em all and let the Good Lord decide who is innocent and who is guilty. May God Bless the USA. Donerail
Crazyhorse: Great post. Any room on the Reservation???? Donerail
can u smell what i smell here?
to tell the truth i have no clue what to think on this.In my oppinon we where going to be in hell eather way.If bush won or kerry.O well i’ll still all ways stay here in the usa.Its my county.I’ll live here and die here. Its sad that where devided.(sorry bad spelling
) I hope well come to gether some how.
dholland&kfowler,
I will tell you that you didn’t win at all,but already you are in the process of loosing everything, like all blind people who voted for Bush.Your Chief is also blind and you’ll follow him into nothingness.
Stupidity is the greatest enemy of mankind and I see it thru your hate. Not the democrats are hateful, but you,so called religious zealots(hypocrites),you self proclaimed ethical and moral people! The truth is hanging on a thread above your heads and one day,not to far from now, will cut your empty lives.
Your selfishness and lies come thru your skins, the smell of ignorance fills the bones of this country. One day you’ll pay and the laughter of today will be tears tomorrow.
To late to go back.Much to late. You mede the choice of loose along with your chief looser, who’ll turn his back on you with no regrets.
There are writings in the Creation, not for you though, because you have impure thoughts and minds.Of course you laugh and mock my words but I know what you’ll never know but only when you’ll find yourselves alone and crying looking for help.
You continue to contaminate your own bed and one day you’ll suffocate in your own waste.Your chief plans to destroy the Creation, but you;ll see him real praying when she’ll wake up sick and tired of being raped and stabbed by you and your cubes in which you live like prisoners.
You hold onto your green frog skins(money)like you think you’ll take them with you in the other world after your …rapture!
You were and are always troubled by your primitive fears.Still a foreigner and an alien on this land!Remember…you’re like in the hills or desert, you usually cannot be aware of a venomous snake-it will bite you before you’ll see it.
You don’t care for the future(your chief’s philosophy)because you’ll die anyway.Well my friends is not quite so simple!!!!Remember if you have any shaddow of a brain, that death is only a change of worlds, and you’ll be back.
And because you are as usual a nasty wasitchu dholland,You force me to respond in the same way:why don’t YOU take YOUR heritage from your ancestors and G.T.F.O.of MY COUNTRY!!!!Remember, you are and still be just a visitor here,we din’t invite you,you came like a bandit and killed our nations and to this day you fell hatred against us,how much happier would you be if all indians would be dead!
So don’t beat your chest with pride that you’re such a great american because you’re not!
Believe me,the day will come when the land will come back to us,it is written and will happen, but you’ll never understand. Not the democrats are full of hate but you!
Remember:you came, you saw the new world, now it’s time for you to go home.
And I’ll give you a vision that already exists on its 3/4 course…

Why keep Howard Dean away? He is what he is. He admits he is a liberal, breaths it, and lives it 24 hours a day. I can respect that. He is not a phony.
What happened to the Pats in the ‘burgh last week?
They got their asses spanked!
Crazy,
Trust me we won, we are not losing. Lets see accorting to the Dems it’s ok if all the African Americans get to together and back an agenda, but when a group of religious people get together to support an agenda they are nothing but a bunch of facists & bigots. GROW UP. Also the majority of the American people will not support someone says he is a Catholic, but get supports Partial-Birth Abortion. And you say we are hypocrits, GROW UP.
Oh, President Bush is a loser, well at least he is loyal to his wife. While your beloved Bill was busy getting a **** job in the Oval Office on the American people’s time instead of doing his job. If what Bill did was so O.K. why is it that no single man was ever elected to be President, smarty? I will tell you why, the American people expect our President to have some MORALS and to know right from wrong.
And you Dems tell Repubs not judge you, but you Dems sure judge us. If we Repubs don’t support Gay Marriage you call us Homophobes, when all we Repubs wanted was for the Gays to call their Marriages something else, like Civil Unions or Domestic Parters.
And as for the Indians, I am part Indian and I still don’t care. Why don’t go back to your Casino and get drunk.
Dholland,
Why keep Howard Dean away. Well lets see sure he is a Liberal which I can respect, but he is self destructive. And I remember the time he told a 70 year old Army Vet to set down and shut up. That was STUPID, and not even the Democratic Party wanted to be associated with that.
dholland62: Do you have indoor plumbing there in Pittsburg yet? The Steelers will only spit up the bit in games that mean something. And that is good. And its never good to lose at home, is it? Should I elaborate for the Forum? Donerail
dholland62: LourdePersonne reminded me. I think you wanted to talk to me about the Red Sox / Yankees series. hahahahah Donerail
Crazyhorse: Great post, Kemosabe. Your posts are the most vivid in the whole Forum. I thoroughly enjoy the style, wit, and the message. I would like to write a book with you. You have a dynamite (Indian and otherwise) proverb or saying for every occasion. That is a talent that I wish I had. I can almost see the scalps of kfowler5 and dholland62 hanging from the tomahawk. Keep that prose coming. Donerail
kfowler5: I believe LVB and Crazyhorse have covered the territory but I want to summarize it for myself and anyone else that is interested. You don’t think much of blacks, Indians, Catholics, people who are on wellfare, people who care about the environment, gays and lesbians, and even your own brother. And of course, there are those Liberals. Hmmmm. Sure smells like a facist to me. Some of the French posters have made that observation as well. But you don’t really know what a facist is so I guess it is unfair of me to shed that light on you. Donerail
my scalp under your tomahawk? Like your elders in my sights……
Where is the great indian nation now? The indian male has the highest suicide rate in the nation, the highest alcoholism, yet you tribes take in billions of dollars from gambling.
Where is the money going? Not to better the members of the tribes.
dholland62: Since this is a neat place to render judgements, let me tell you where the Indians are in relation to you. Crazyhorse’s posts to you (which I agree with BTW, but that is irrelevant) show much more insight and depth of thought. Your posts to him (and me and others) have a basically shrill tone to them and lack any sign of independent thinking. Therefore, however it happened, I would judge the Indian Crazyhorse to be much more intelligent and obviously better educated than you. Maybe if the ForumAdmin hadn’t edited your most recent post, I may have been able to notice a hint of intelligent thought. Donerail
crc95: In three hours I am leaving for a week in LaFrance. Three days in Normandie (Honfleur) and four days in Paris. Good food and good people. Try to keep the Forum alive. I just tried to call dholland62 a word that started with the letter "m" and it was censored before I could send it. What a neat tool. I had to go back and insert the word "idiot" instead. Now if Bill Gates can just get that logic into all of earth’s software the ForumAdministrator will be greatly pleased. I wonder if I could help the Forum Administrator in giving Bill Gates the list of words that would be unacceptable. It is obviously more than just the seven words that George Carlin told us about. I do respectfully disagree that dems should be outlawed, actually the republican party is no place for christians. The other name for its party is socalled "corporate socialist" that affair with those giant corporates and ceo’s that have nothing do with God-fearing people. This party uses christian theme as a substance to "sugar coating" their dark side.
Normally, Jesus did not greet"rich man" and denied Lazarus!

Tendreamie:
It has been so good to read your post: are you really american?
I give you my feelings about your post but you’ll forgive me, today I don’t feel like to speak english.
Montjoly.
donerail: How was France? Stupid question, I know…it was WONDERFUL or else you’d not go there…Hope you had lots of French wine and cheese during your Paris stay.
Ahhhhhhhh….beautiful France! 🙂
YO! Forum admins: Thank you for removing kfowler’s thread "shame on France." It is really ignorant to come into a pro-France website and write nasty, anti-French posts that are based on rumor and innuendo.
If some people hate France and the French culture so much, then why do they come in this forum?
Better if y’all had a good glass of Sancerre and chill out a bit
Lav,
I will tell you why we come this forum. Because you Anti-American loosseerrss are to chicken to go to forums that you know people won’t tolerate your constant close minded attitutes. And you won’t show up at forums where you will be challanged on the lies that you tell about Americans being stupid because we don’t agree with your narrow minded opinions. Whats wrong the truth really hurts.
kfowler5: Maybe you can take off your white robe and cone hat long enough to tell us what an American is. Or tell us what an anti-American is. It would be surely entertaining. Donerail
donerail: how was France? I assumed you were in Normandy for Veteran’s Day? I see by your post that you’re back now. Jetlag sux, doesn’t it? usually after returning from France, I’m a jetlag wreck by 7 p.m.
Hope you had a great time! And what expensive gift did you buy me?
LVB: LaFrance was fantastic as expected. The French people were hospitable beyond all expectations. More so than ever before. We got introduced to Les Gallates in Basse Normandie. Absolutely delicious. The weather was reasonable for November – temperature in the high fifties. A couple of short showers during the week. A great, but sobering, time visiting the various D-Day beaches and then taking in Remembrance Day at the Arc d’Triomphe on Thursday in Paris. Found four great restaurants in the 8er. Can’t wait to go back to La France in April. Donerail
donerail: You notice how the forum admins deleted kfowlers entire thread? What an ignorant, hate filled person he is. I hope I never turn into that kind of bitter, angry, confrontational person.
A good bottle of fine French wine can solve most problems
Donerail,
If I were a member of the KKK I certainly wouldn’t have a Hyspanic Wife.
kfoul5: You own a A Hyspanic Wife. Is than anything like being married to a Hispanic woman? I was half expecting that you would try to answer my question. Tell us more what "real" Americans are like. Americans like you. Yea-ah, can I hear an "Amen." Donerail
LVB: The flights over and back on Air France were flawless. Can you believe they fed us lobster on the plane? Amazing. We spent three days in the Normandy area and actually walked on Omaha and Sword beaches and then toured Coleville sur Mer where 10000 GI’s are buried (including my namesake.) It was in the Basse Normandie area where I discovered Calvados and Les Gallotes. The French are absolutely amazing. From Wednesday to Saturday we were in Paris. I was actually Senator Kerry’s liasion to the Remembrance Day ceremonies at the Arc d’Triomphe on Thursday. It was cool being treated as a VIP and getting to meet Ambassadors and Generals. It was a stunning ceremony. My wine purchases made it thru customs but my cheese did not. I still managed to eat a fair amount of cheese over their. It is such a magnificent country. Too bad our economy is going down the rat hole. In Europe they have such a high standard of living. We piss away so much of our tax dollars on the likes of kfowler5. Kfouler5 is so lame he probably couldn’t operate a flag at a construction site. Donerail
K5:
You most certainly would have a hispanic wife…You certainly would NOT have an all American caucasian wife. She wouldn’t have you. You can disregard history all you want, but the Republican Party of today is formed from the old Dixiecrats…who either decided to turn Republican in the 70’s or stayed on as Democrats even though Democrats adopted "equal rights" for all Americans. The Republican Party is made up of mostly white males. The reason the south is red is because they mask a lot of their "discriminatory" policies and use wedge issues to win elections. The senator who took Fritz Hollings(d) place this time, DeWitt (Cheney campaigned for him all the time here to raise money)…Guess what he believes…No pregnant unmarried woman should be teaching school…23 percent flattax (which puts a heavier burden on the middle-class (what is left of it) and the poor. He also said that Gays should not be teaching school…After he got called on the carpet about his remarks by Tim Russert on Meet the Press, then he backpedaled and said he thought the school board should be the judge of who works at the schools. Inez Tennebaum gave him a good run for his money…even though the republicans (the moral majority) had a lot of hateful, smear campaigns running against her.
The Republican Party are a bunch of hyprocrites. They have boxed themselves in…ha ha…their "Moral Majority" has turned on them and are demanding that they give in to them on the Arlen Spector nomination and threatening Frist…What a tangled web we weave, when first we practice to deceive. Now the Republicans have to cough up or shut up…They are in a real quidmire…Please the "moral majority", or risk upsetting them…Please the majority of Americans who do believe in Roe v Wade and who are pro-choice and they are in a pickle with the "moral majority"…I say they deserve everything they are getting and more in the political ring…They are a dirty bunch of greedy, corporate, wall street magnates who want to keep their money and get more…The reason they are pushing the 2% for young people to put into savings accounts from their social security is NOT as the Republican’s say, "because we want everyone to own something"…Wall street is salivating about all the money they are going to make…That is the reason…Not as Bush and his chickenhawks say, "to have an ownership society"…That is a bunch of crock…Only people who really pay attention to the issues would realize this…Most Americans, the 60M who voted for Bush don’t watch the news and keep up with issues…They are too busy earning a minimum wage in most cases, taking care of a family, trying to keep the old klunker of a car going and putting food on the table…They would rather be poor than have a gay person living next to them…Go figure on the intellect of that…
ikorrellim,
I don’t believe that all Americans believe in Roe v Wade. There is a shift in that opinion. While I don’t think Roe v Wade will ever be over turned, because it has become such a part of our culture. As a father of two daughters, I certainly don’t want to see the return of what was called "back alley" abortions. The only problem I have with Roe v Wade is the partial birth procedure. If the mother’s health is in question, then so be it, but the idea of conducting a partial birth to conduct an abortion soley because the mother decides she doesn’t want the child to me is wrong.
I have never hated the French, I only have a strong dislike of their socialist government. As the Senate and press continue to expose the UN and it’s role in the Oil for Food program, France’s role (among many other countries) will become clearer.
The press in Europe is just as skewed as the US. Since some of you like to mention the Nazi’s so much, you must remember that the press has learned a valuable less from Joseph Gobbels, who once said: "He who controls the arts, controls the people." The press has finally master that lesson. In the US the press had a direct impact on the election. CBS and ABC leading the way. FOX saw an opportunity to counter, and did so. Both sides are guilty of that.
While living in Europe for four years we were treated extremely well by the Spanish, Portugese, and Germans. We had limited experiences with the French in St Jon de luz (east coast), Chambry (near Switzerland), and Perpignan (south). Most were good. I loved the highways, clean and smooth. Unfortuately, we found that unless you spoke the language, no one would work with you. I guess you can find that anywhere, especially in the U.S.
As for the economy, don’t rag on the dollar too much. While it is down on the Euro, most money managers in Europe are very nervous about that. Remember how well all of the Eruopean currencies did against the dollar in the later 1980’s early 1990’s? What happened in the later half of the 90’s? All of the currencies tanked into a recession. There is a strong fear that event might repeat itself.
Higher standard of living in Europe? In someways I agree with you, but at what cost. I am sick of hearing American’s belly ache about why life is so unfair to them. Someone put the idea in their head, that it’s a birthrite that the government will always be there to bail them out. That philosiphy has cheated all of our society. Explain to me how imigrants who escape from impovrished countries do so well here? They have an incredible drive to succeed; to make their lives better for their children. Many come with nothing but the clothes on their backs. Does this happen in Europe? How many Africans, who sneak into Spain, France, Italy, or the Balkans succeed in the same manner? They don’t. Why? Too much government regulation and controls.
On the other hand, how many homes in Europe have central heat? Not in Spain, at least in the south. We had to rely on a fire place or our Butono heater. Ever try to buy wood in Southern Europe? Not cheap.
As for taxes, we do not pay the 33 to 40% most Europeans pay. With the consolidation of the European Common Market, some taxes have been eliminated, but if I remember correctly extreme taxation was one of the central reasons we rebelled against the english. Who still, as of today, pay an good part of their income to the crown. How about the gas tax? What has that solved? Has it taken any cars off the road? No, it forced the development of smaller cars with smaller engines. How do those smaller vehicles perform when they hit anything? Not good. Has it cleaned up the air around cities?
Yes there are advantages to living here and living there. If you don’t like it here in the US, move. It’s just that simple.
fowler:
I didn’t say that ALL Americans believe in Roe v Wade. I said the majority of Americans want it to stand.
As far as bellyaching…who is bellyaching…that the government owes us a living…We are not a welfare state…the majority of Americans work for what they get…I know I do…been with the government for over 40 years now and liking it more everyday…No handouts for me…
ManuNice:
I am sad too…for America and the world. Unfortunately, the Republicans used wedge issues to divide and conquer…and many uneducated, very religious people voted for Bush on "values"…
It is OK…this country is in turmoil as we have been in many times in our history…We will fight with each other until we hit a happy medium…
Don’t despair…The next four years will prove to the 56M that voted for Bush that they wished to heck they hadn’t…and we will all be better off for having "born the burden" of this horrible, right-wing, hawkish administration.
Actually, it’s 60M. I did vote for Bush. I don’t want to fight terrorism on the streets of Seattle or anywhere else in the US. We have been hit numerous times over the last 11 years. Clinton either buried his head in the sand, or was too afraid he might upset someone if he really reacted.
The attack on WTC in 1993 should have been a wake up call for us. Instead we rolled over and went back to sleep, because the government wanted us to. Oklahoma City was next, then the embasy’s in Africa and the Cole in Yemen. The list goes on.
Kerry didn’t show the people who he really is/was. We don’t know, and after reading the Newsweek article on his campaign, he still doesn’t know who he is. Only 15% of democrats favored Kerry, the remaining 35% were Anybody but Bush people. Running on hate. I know several democrats that voted for Bush.
There are issues I have with Bush, but right now, I know where he stands on the terror war. Being ex-military, I know that things are happening in that war we will probably never know about. I know the Iraqi’s are paying a terrible price for their freedom from Saddam, but the majority of terrorists or insurgents are not Iraqi.
They do not want to negoiate, they want us dead, period.
Donerail,
I don’t own my wife, but I certainly own everything I bought. That is why I have a pre-nup. And about your stupid remark about amen, that is why Kerry was trying to get the black religious vote you hypocrit. The problem with you liberals is that you don’t believe in anything, if you people had your way people would be able to marry their pets.
And the remarks about 51% of the American people being morons is the exact reason reason you liberals lost the election all around, and if you continue with that attitude instead of thinking of ways to sway voters your way you liberals won’t win the White House again for a long time. Here’s an Idea I think your buddy Bill could become Secretary General of the U.N. if he wanted, even though the U.N. is useless and without the U.S. the U.N. wouldn’t have any teeth at all.
IKO,
Sorry but you are wrong again, you democrats are hypocrits. Why are the democrats hypocrits, thats simple. Its because of you democrats constant hate speech for anyone who does not agree with your views. Example, 51% of the American are stupid. Sorry but I have news for you, it is moronic remarks like that make the American people vote against you Dems. Until you Dems change your attitudes about the religious people in the U.S. and campaign with a more positive tone it will be a long time before you guys win the White House again.
And as for Social Security, hello it is going bankrupt. It was not made for people to retire on, it was made to help with their retirement. And as for investing in the stock market, I invested $2000 dollars every year into the Willshire 5000 for the past 10 years. Do you know what that is, that is number of stocks on the NY stock exchange. And for the past 15 years the Willshire 5000 had made at least a 15% profit every year.
And as for Wall Street salivating, Bush wants to give people the choice to invest in the stock market it is not required. And the last time I checked the U.S. is a capitalist Country not a Socialist one. And people in the U.S. are here to work and make money, and if Wall street propers the investors prosper thats only common sense.
And remarks about the 60 million people who voted for Bush don’t watch the news are know the issues is the exact reason why people don’t vote for your party. Just because those 60 million people don’t watch the news you watch and don’t agree with you liberals you call them morons. That is the exact reason why you are losing elections.
And as for the 60 million people who would rather work at a minimum wage job instead of having a gay living next to them, guess what that is their right. And if I were you before I said these 60 million people have minimum wage jobs I would go on the internet and find out what the average American living in those red states makes a year. Just like a typical liberal, opens his big mouth before he thinks.
IKO,
Well it looks like 60 million of the American people who can vote believe Roe vs Wade should be overturned, and to me that is a majority.
That explains everything, you work for the Government. So that means the taxpayers pay for the medical insurance you get for free, sound like welfare to me. And all these illegal aliens who come into the U.S. get free medical care, sounds like welfare to me. And since my tax dollars pay for these illegal aliens to receive medical care, I say I have every right to complain.
DH,
WOW that was my point, until them Dems come up with a canidate who isn’t afraid to say where he stands and with a more positive message they won’t win national elections.
And as for Freedom DH, most Dems don’t understand nothing in this world is free.
K5
You need to stop the personal attacks. Not acceptable for a good debate, and it weakens your credability with anyone, let alone the forum admin.
I don’t want gay marriage, but I am very open to the idea in creating civil unions. You can ban it, outlaw it, or ignore it, but gays are not going to go away. We have to deal with it, the question is how. Civil unions, not marriages, would allow some benefits that married couples are intitled to, such as health care, tax deductions, and certain other human rights. Even patient information from a doctor is barred from their significant other. Sorry, I am a centerist on that issue.
Same with abortion. I don’t think it’s necessarily right, but that is a persons decision. I don’t agree with Partial Birth, that one should be out lawed. Who knows, with the declining birth rate in the teenage years, we might be speaking of something that will barely impact our society.
dholland62: Your last post was the most sensible one that I have read from you. kfouler5 seems to be doing an admirable job of embarrassing himself and the "cause." Please, let him continue to entertain us. I even received a stock tip on the Wilshire 5000. Wow, can you believe it? The Connecticut education system should be spanked for allowing something like kfouler5 run loose. Donerail
kfouler5: Yea-ah!! Amen, brother. Can I hear an Amen. Praise the Baby Jesus. Bless you, brother! Hallijulah!! Donerail
K5:
You show your ignorance on each posts…Please keep on posting…as Donerail stated: You are entertaining…
60M Americans did not vote to overturn Roe V Wade. Read, watch CNN, CSPAN 1 & 2, FoxNews(you’d love Hannity), MSNBC (I recommend Chris Matthews) and get educated on what is going on.
I do not get free medical as you think. I have many medical insurance options, chose Blue Cross-Blue Shield. I tell you this to "educate" you a little.
I am confused about exactly what you do. You are probably an unemployed Republican pissed off at your party because of job and pay reductions, but don’t dare complain for fear of being told by your party that you are being unpatriotic…Perhaps you were one of the thousands of police officers that Bush has taken off the streets since he got into office. But if you are a policeman or an educator then you should know a little about how the government works, local, state and federal. Obviously, you are a very uninformed Bubba Republican…I think that statement "uninformed Bubba Republican" covers a lot of territory…I do not need to elaborate…
K5:
On another point, immigration, which you brought up…If you are so worried about it, then go to senate.gov and write your representatives, congressman about it…
The Republican Party are the "bright boys" who are letting the immigrants stream across the border…Arizona got smart this election…find out what they did…
Now your bright party has decided that all immigrants who are here should get a "work card"…so they, as Bush put it, "can go back and forth from America to their homeland and take their money, and return…" Obviously, you never watch TV…The last week before the elction, your president was on TV with Mr. Gibson and he said, "he believes that marriage is between a man and a woman, but if the states want to, he sees no reason why couples should not have rights such as benefits; i.e., civil unions". That is exactly the Democratic Party’s stance. He also made the statement above about the immigrants…He made a statement about a year ago, "gearing up for election and the hispanic vote", that immigrants here and the ones coming should be given "drivers licenses and green cards"…So did his brother in Florida…Now whose vote are they courting? After your president made that statement on TV about a year ago, that is when we had the mass, mass, mass crossing of the borders as we have now…They took your president at his word. So, go to senate.gov and tell your people what you think…instead of bitchin’ here on this post…Are you afraid that they will tell you that you are being "unpatriotic"…that seems to be the catch all phrase of this administration…if any American speaks against the war in Iraq, the immigration policy, or anything that the administration does not agree with, the person is labeled as "unpatriotic"…This country is going backwards, not forwards…but you Bubba Republicans want it that way…
Your statement about us (US) not caring what the world thinks? You are really showing your Bubba Republican mentality with that one. I think before you make more of an "ass" of yourself, you really need to get educated about what is going on here in this country and in the world…then you can speak with some intellect.
However, it is a waste of time to talk to you…I know your kind…I know a lot of your kind…narrow-minded, tunnel visioned, ignorant of the facts, cannot see the forest for the trees…
If you are truly a policeman or an educator, I do feel sorry for the people who have to put up with you each and every day…and that is not a dig at you, it is the sorry truth…
Dh62,Kf5,you have no idea what you’re talking about. The same narrow minded kind of people I met few times and couldn’t believe they are known as part of the human race.
I don’t know what are you doing on this forum?Don’t you realize that
you are the rotten apples in the basket? There are such nice people here, you just came to instigate and show your colors of hate, and obviously you have the biggest mouth of all creation. One day it will eat you from inside out.
What you’re doing is not a debate but you try to reassure yourselves that you might be right…in the end you’re on the road to nowhere that how strange ,but leads to your own lost egos.
Never talk about the indians, your wooden tongue will blister in a universe unknown and never to be reached ,lest to be understood by you, always the outsiders. You ‘d like to have the elders in your sights….so pityfull you are.People like you killed in genocide millions of indians, but don’t worry, the braves are still keeping an eye on their country and don’t think this life is the only one so you can do anything you want with nature and whole creation as your reelected chief’s"philosophy".
Oh,you’ll be back, because there is a next life but this you don’t fathom. And you’ll see what you’ve done and see what is left of this earth.Have patience, this things will happen in your life time!Don’t turn your back then and run, you’ll have no place to go and hide.It is written but you white people never have a clue yet.
Why are so many suicides in the indian nations?Because life is sad being forced to live on a reservation and being monitored and watched like criminals! The indian was always free to roam,to enjoy nature,he was very happy till you came and used them ,lied and cheated them,he thought you are honest like him and your word is the truth….you deceived him to the day.
He’s not allowed to hunt and pick plants and berries for his medicine, you destroyed all these so only the corporations to make medicine and make profits. The indian could cure you of anything and without asking rewards in money, maybe a blanket or some tobacco will do it.
The indian doesn’t have your body,he can’t stand alcohol but you lured him into this weakness of yours to take advantage of him as usual.Sadness, lack of freedom and understanding, led him to become alcoholic and to kill himself…this is the nation that YOU made ,man of many faces. We call you IKTOME,the spider-man the tricky one,the deceiver, the liar.
And you’re gelous because few casinos are own by a group of indian nations?Or because there are no taxes on tobacco? You took away their lives, their land, what else is left to take?
And in the end,you are not democrats nor republicans, you are just a bunch of vultures.
I will not come back on this forum till I’ll notice that there is no
hate ,irony, cinical remarks. You have nothing to talk about but write nothing that make any sense. When was the last time you read a very good book, something to make you think?
Obsessed by your own obsessions, afraid to really look in the mirror for not to scare your so fragile egos.
Beware of your own shaddows, they might eat you alive.

Don’t know if it was you or the other idiot on these posts who said Arlen Spector would never be chair of Judicial Committe…
Wanna Bet?
To Mr Kevin Fowler ( who have insisted to call me "Mont", when my pseudo is "Montjoly" ):
I won’t go away of this forums because you’ve decided to make a hell of it. If you want to go on letting your posts here, you’re welcome, but , after having read your last posts and the answers of who have cared to answer, one month of american and french posts, I noticed that it’s no sense to continue on answering to you. You don’t make any effort to understand the rest of the world, and you don’t care. You’ve said it very clearly.
So, why should I lose my time with you anymore?
Para la señora Fowler: se da cuenta del marido que tiene???
To CrazyHorse, Donerail, CRC973, SalB, Ikorellim, LVB, Myfarside, Manunice,
and the others like me who are not standing anymore what this forum became:
I say please, just stop answering to Mr Kevin Fowler, policeman proud of his white not gay against every kind of abortion american people and married against an hispanic woman which is the evidence for him that he is not racist ( Hey? As my dog is black, can I say I’m not racist either?).
Please, let’s show us more intelligent and let’s go back to something much more interesting than Mr Kevin Fowler polluted speech: if nobody see or hear you, do you exist?
…
So, who have tasted the Beaujolais Nouveau ?
Montjoly.
crazyhorse..noted
Dol,
hey man just taking a page from the Democrat play book. I never said I was against civvil unions or domestic parterships, I said I was against the use of the word Marriage.
And that is what most of the people who voted for Bush said, they are against partial birth abortions. Read before spew stuff.
And I believe that before a woman has an abortion of any type they should at least notify the father, if possible and let him have some input into the decision.
Donerail,
Before you make dumb remarks about excellent investment fund, at least do some research on it first. If you the research you would see that the Willshire 5000 made at least 15% gains over the past 10 years, man thats great.
IKO,
I watch all of them. Personally, I think all government employees should pay for their medical insurance. I know I pay for all of my medical insurance.
Sorry but I am informed, in Ct. all the state employees got their medical insuance for free. I don’t take the medical insurance offered by my town because I don’t think it is right, as far as I am concerned all I am entitled to is a paycheck and a pension.
iIKO,
Come on now your Buddy Bill had eight years to do somethin about immigration, but he did nothing.
I do watch t.v. and yes I know about the work cards. Again Bill had eight years to solve that problem, but did nothing. And again read my posts before you respond, I said before civil unions are fine just not marriage.
Sorry, but G.W. never said that immigrants should be given driver’s licenses. That was the Democraticly controlled legislature in California and Greyout Davis, and when Arnold got elected Governor of California that got repealled real quick.
I know exactly what is going on in this country, Americans are sick of Europe telling the U.S. how to use its military, when they aren’t the ones paying for it. It is the U.S. military and the American people pay for it so the American people through our elected representives decide how to use it, not Europe.
IKO,
Now Spector has a shot at the chairmanship after he wrote a letter to President Bush promising him he will support any nominee the Bush sends up.
Crazyhorse: Nice to see you back here, kemosabe. The more I read your posts, the more I respect your heritage and culture. You are a true philosopher. Isn’t kfouler5 a hoot? Donerail
Montjoly: Don’t get too upset with kfouler5! He is great entertainment along the lines of a car wreck. Its probably a little cruel, but the simpleton is good entertainment – dumb as dirt and numb as a hake. Donerail
crc95: It appears SalB is back. We now have to behave ourselves. Especially since I will need some of her travel tips. After returning last week from LaFrance, I am planning a 2-3 trip for late April. Donerail
Donerail : glad to see you had a fine trip here. SalB seems to be pleased as well with her trip. You guys weren’t that lucky though, since the euro is really going through the roof these days. It’s $ 1.30 for one euro right now, I feel like I need to plan a second trip very soon !
They say it might go beyond 1.50, now THAT would be fun. I know it’s not too good for european exports, but since I work for my govt. I feel like I can be selfish on this one… lol
I find the boards pretty quiet these days. That Kfooler dude sure is entertaining, but his act of stubborn stupidity and naive redneckism is getting old and more boring everyday. Loved the recent ‘huntin dawg pride’ post though. Can’t wait for him to give me a good recipe of jelly possum meat sandwich. Couldn’t find this in TN, but I’m thinking they might still make it in CT. I like Dholland’s style better, the comparaison he drew between european and american ways of life were true for the most part, and interesting.

hi y’all
Friday is finally here! It gets rather difficult to post during the week because I’m so busy with work, but now that the weekend has arrived I can add my 2 cents into the forum…
ikorrelim: don’t insult the teaching profession by even thinking kfouler is one of us! I have NEVER known an intolerant, bigoted, hateful, racist teacher, ever! We deal with the publlic, and as such we must have an open mind to all things, peoples and cultures. It makes the job that much more interesting
BTW, nice posts, you’re really kicking kfouler’s cyber butt! However, I feel that all your good words are lost on that guy. He must be sharing the same sheep as Bush/Cheney.
Montjoly: don’t get too stressed out with kfouler. He’s a morally bankrupt waste by-product. Remember that many, many Americans are NOT like kfouler.
Last summer, during that infamous heat wave, there was a group of Americans at the Tour Eiffel on Bastille Day. They were carrying a HUGE home-made banner/sign. On it they had written an apology to France and Europe for the stupidities of Bush and company. They also wrote that many many Americans love France and Europe. The French news media interviewed them and filmed their sign. I know this, I was there and witnessed it personally.
euh…beaujolais nouveau is OK to drink, if you’re eating a nice steak or some other heavy beef dish. Otherwise I prefer not to drink it. It’s rather rough and course. However, a good smooth Burgundy, aged some years is a delicious treat
crazyhorse: Nice post!
donerail: yep, kfouler is a hoot! But it’s getting boring to read his redneck english. We should all just ignore him and discuss something more interesting
To all our European and normal American friends: I got this web site in an email sent to me by somebody I know:
http://www.sorryeverybody.com/
This site speaks for itself. As I said, not all Americans are rednecks.
MontJoly:
You are right…ignorning K5 will make him go away…if no one responds…ditto…
i wonder if SalB will login to the political wing of these forums, or will she just stay in the travel and talk sections?
I was thinking of starting a new thread in the culture section, "Favorite French Recipies" however, I don’t know if that thread has been started already. I found a great Burgundy cookbook a few weeks ago, that gives recipies for snails. However, I’ll pass on that recipe
If anybody wants a formula for making a good beef bouillion (to be used for a good onion soup) just let me know
I think a recipe thread would be great. Do it!
ok…it’s done
SalB, you had better post something now
Lav,
I think it is time for you all to discuss something interesting. Like why the Democrat is going down the cosmic toilet, or imploding. And why every canidate you Dems pick to run for President seem not to take a stand on anything. The truth really hurts, doesn’t it.
LVB, I promise I’ll post something. Right now we are putting our lives back together after six weeks of running around Europe. It’s amazing how much dust can accumulate in six weeks!!
I did see it and I will post. What sorts of recipes should we share? I would love a hot goat cheese starter. It’s my favorite starter and I don’t have a recipe. Any help out there??
SalB: I hear you on that one. I’ve done the 6 week Europe trip myself for many summers, in France. I hear you about the dust issue!
I was thinking of posting my recipe for a nice vin chaud aux epices
It’s a perfect beverage now that the weather is turning colder
It’s also available in every Quebecois/Parisien brasserie right now
I will be making a batch tomorrow afternoon, to enjoy during next week’s cold evenings after work
I think we lead a different life. I had an iced mocho on my patio this morning for breakfast. Ah, southern California . . .
SalB: sorry, but for me autumn is about falling leaves and colder weather and the arrival of Thanksgiving. Warm weather doesn’t do it for me. We’re going to Quebec City over the Christmas holidays, to enjoy French culture with a strong dollar
http://www.quebecfetenoel.com will post the Quebec City festivities by the end of the week.
It’s wonderful! Nobody really speaks English there, the Quebecois preserve their French heritage by trying to ignore English as much as they can. It’s like being in a fantastic French regional city, but without the long plane flight (1 hour flight for me).
OK, so I’ll start by posting a simple vin chaud aux epices tonight in the recipies thread. I woudln’t expect many Americans to have to patience for making a real French bouillion the way I do, it takes at least 5-6 hours. Ahhh, Saturdays….
Southern California . . . iced mocha on the patio yesterday, snow on the mountains today. We have a fire in our fireplace and are looking on snow nearly halfway down the smaller mountains a mile from us and two feet of snow on the higher mountains in back of them. This is a weird place . . .
Crazyhorse,
I am not jealous that the indian nations have finally found away to make a buck. What I was disappointed with was the lack of re-investment within the nations.
Some tribes do contribute back to make thier lives better, but for the most part, that is not true. I do not participate in games of chance myself.
I wouldn’t say jealous, just disappointed. You must know the phrase:"Absoulute power, corupts absolute." Those who do not share the benefits that the casinos bring must fit the bill.
As for your elders within my sights, I remind you that you started the first personal attack. Something about you tomahawking my scalp?
As for the rest of you……….
Have a Happy (and safe)Thanksgiving
crc95,
When I lived in Southern Spain for four years, during the mid-90’s, we saw the emergence of the Spanish middle class. A unique experience to say the least.
We did take advantage of our time there. Not only did we tour Spain and Portugal extensively, we were able to make a cross European driving trip that covered twelve countries. A great experience for my daughters.
There are some advantages to living in Europe, my wife and I have thought about it more than once. Barvaria is our favorite. I think I would be happy living anywhere between Munich and Innsbruk, the only killer would be paying the taxes.
I discussed the Euro with Donerail and LVB, warning that the stronger the Eruo became, the more unstable the European Economy would become. So economist are begining to think the same.
dholland62: If your buddy Bushie doesn’t stop spending like a drunken sailor the dollar, the euro, and everything else will come crashing down. Donerail
donerail: There was a report on National Public Radio yesterday about the euro, the dollar and the national debt. It seems that the Asian countries hold in reserve about 4 TRILLION dollars, due to the national debt. If these countries decide to exchange them for euros and dump those dollars on the world market, the USA’s economy will be finished. The White House is worried about this quite a bit.
Imagine if the oil producing countries decide they want to be paid in euros instead of dollars, as is now the case? If you think gas is high now, add on another 37% plus foreign exchange fees of about 5%.
LVB : good point. I think we all need Kfooler’s opinion on this one.
You heard me Kfooler ? I’m a stoopit europian in here and therefour I need your opineon on ecnomics matters. Please respond.
By the way people, HAPPY THANKSGIVING !! I had couscous for lunch today. Not very thanksgivingy right now, huh ? lol
CRC
LVB/crc95: Happy Thanksgiving as well. Kfouler5 doesn’t have to worry about economics. He has his Wilshire 5000 investments. Hahahahaha. Donerail
I dont know to much a bout this but Why would it matter to Uk and other europe countrys if the us dollor fell?Or if other stuff happends?I would think it wouldnt matter or hurt them.Dos it realy hurt france and europe?Like i said i dont know to much a bout this So i figerd id ask people who might know.lol
oddone: Financial markets rely on some measure of stability. Remember the "run on the banks" in the USA 70 years ago. Instability then precipitated a depression. The dollar has always been regarded (relatively) as a measure of stability. The US economy, historically, has been the engine that has propelled the world. If the dollar croaks – either because of our inability to manage things economically – or because of lack of faith by other governments – then the dollar and the world economic systems would be propelled into chaos. Then, naturally, wars would become a viable option for some nations. Donerail
OOOOO ok i see now.thanks for clearing that up donerail.
LAV,
Thats right, not all Americans are ELITISTS like you.
Donerail,
Come on now. The rest of the world needs the U.S. more than we need them. Why, simple because almost every country in the world does most of its exporting to the United States. So if the United States refused to let any of the products in from other countries, the other countries would go into massive debt.
The U.S. already imports alot more than it exports.
Donerail,
Finally you are making sense as I tried to tell you before. The world needs the U.S. more than we need the world.
Kfooler : what’s with the elitist thing ? Is this becoming your new pet-peeve ? Let me tell you this : just because people won’t talk to you, will change sidewalk when they come across you, or just because children laugh at you, doesn’t mean that people are being elitist towards you. The whole world might need the US, but the whole world INCLUDING the US despise the stupid illiterate necks of your kind. Got it ?
CRC
crc: the USA needs the world, the world does NOT need the USA. The entire world has been supporting and propping up the US economy for YEARS. Imagine if the Asian countries decide to dump their estimated 4 trillion dollars on the open markets and buy euros instead? The USA economy and the dollar would be toast.
I read an article that the anti-Americanism is spreading because of the re-election of Bush. Other peoples were willing to give American citizens a break and not judge them harshly. Since Bush was re-elected, they have a different view. Foreign companies are canceling their orders of American produced goods, a sort of "reverse boycott". If the entire world decided to boycott the USA in protest of Bush and his policies, it would be a disaster for us here. The world could always trade among themselves and make the euro the currency standard. But with no place to export their goods and services, the USA would become a third world nation. Its currency would mean nothing, the people would plunge into poverty and a revolution would occur here. The USA needs the world, the world does not need the USA. It’s too bad that things are like this, but hey, truth is truth.
crc: I’m GLAD i’m elitist. In American terms that means I’m well-educated, have traveled overseas, speak multiple languages, understand multiple points of view, have a taste for the finer things in life and have a good job that not only pays well but is intellectually challenging. In other words, life is good
Must have been hard to watch Enfield vote for Kerry! hahahahaha
I have ben reading on this matter. It turns out that would be a veary dumb move for companys and other countrys to boycoot usa goods and other things. It turns out most of other countrys money comes from us imports. Not only that if We also pull out our troops and closed our bass in other countrys it would hurt them finaculy.(i think thats how its spelled.sorry
)But it would all so hurt us to.So some thing like that would be a no win for us and the world.so the world needs the us just like the us needs the world. It works both ways on this one.
CRC,
You heard me, you liberals are nothing but elitists. And as for people like me, guess what there 60 million people like me in the U.S. and we call the shots. And as for you not talking to me thats fine, after all it’s hard to have an intelligent conversation with someone who looks up to Michael Moore.
Lav,
H*******t, where does every country in the world send 90% of its products to be sold? The U.S. The only thing we want from the rest of the world, is the money you all owe the U.S.
Lav,
No, an eliteist is a person who looks down on other people because you don’t think they are as educated as you. And as long as you liberals have that mentality, you will loose elections.
Lav,
Its not their fault, their ignorant. What do you expect when you have been raised to think it’s ok to have 5 kids by 5 different fathers so you can get a welfare check. But thats why we conservitives are here, to protect them from themselves.
you all notice that kfouler is gone? I thinkk he needs to lighten up. he needs to get drunk and get laid and then maybe will shut up
I think K5 has indeed gone on a binge…one of my last posts before he left was that he must have run out of Bud and had to leave Ruby Ridge to get some more cases…or someone has decided to take matters into their own hands…and he is recuperating from a good "whuppin" or incarcerated for threatening others…
ikorrellim: I think there is a good chance he was banished/censored by the Administrator. Donerail
I am waiting for this administration to fall flat on it’s face…So far, DeLay has caused a stir, Armstrong Williams, the commentator who is right wing, who was paid 240,000 by the Administration to get on his show and tout the No Child Left Behind…he said he will not give the money back…The Administration refusing to give the Senate Approval Committee memos and letters written by Gonzales…Bush’s coronation (price 40M)…why doesn’t he do the "Christian" thing and forego this coronation and give the money to the troops for armored humvees and body armor…
I got a letter from Lyndsey Graham (R) SC…about social security…his plan, which he is introducing calls for 55 and over, social security will stay the same, 54 and under, can, if you elect, put money into 40lK…Wall Street is salivating at the thought of all this money…another payback for all the money they poured into Bush re-election. Still no one has talked about the 2T it takes to get this plan adopted. Did you know that Roosevelt started the social security program because of the stock market crash of 29? It was insurance for people in old age…Until the 60’s, seniors were still poor, then Johnson started giving seniors more money in their social security checks…Looks like Bush and his cronies are determined to put the seniors back in the poor house…and extinquish the middle class…Why do they want it all? Is this a Christian man?
I think Bush, Cheney, Rumsfeld need to really watch their backs…of course, from the sounds of the tight security during his coronation…they have already thought of that…
How about our man in Iraq, Kerry? I hope he comes out to be one of the spokesman for the Democrats…The lies that the Swift Boat people told (with Texas Republican money…ties to Bush) will come back to haunt them…I hope…I think it is evil for one vet to lie on another…
Anyway, perhaps K5 was banished…certainly he had a lot to say…most of it very off the wall…he was entertaining…I miss his posts…
I hope kfouler5 was banished. I know that’s not a nice thing to say, but I’m tired of his mean spiritedness and hatred towards anybody or anything that’s not American.
You must all pardon a few of my posts on Sunday afternoon. I was having a few kirs while cooking dinner, and I must say I wasn’t myself then.
ikorrelim: To my way of thinking, Bush is NOT a good Christian person. However, I am Catholic, and modern Catholics have a different view of Christianity than Baptists/Methodists/Pentacostals. So naturally I will not think of Bush as a Christian, but as a profiteer using "God" as an excuse.
40 million dollars for inauguration parties. That money could be much better spent helping the poor and the homeless in the USA. Funding soup kitchens in poor urban neighborhoods or purchasing meals for destitute senior citizens. This is how Catholics would use a 40 million windfall meant for charity.
ikorrelim: If you want to find more of kfouler5’s posts, you need to go to the TV series "Andromeda" webpage and read his posts. He sounds like a high school student by the way he writes and discusses things. I googled (in quotation marks) his username and found his posts to other sites. From there I had his real name and it was only a matter of minutes before I found out where in CT he lived.
Just as I know your username here on visitfrance.travel is your name spelled backwards.
The internet is a useful thing
LVB: I guess you are not a big fan of freedom of speech. Donerail
LVB : you gotta admit that this is a little scary. Now that you’ve got his address and name, what are you gonna do with it ??
CRC
I got a Q for you all. I have seen a lot of people in the media and so froth bash bush for using god’s name and so forth.yet J.F.K, Lincoln and some other of our Presidents of our past have used god’s name in speechs and soforth. I was wondering if you all could explain why people freak out now and back then thay didnt? I just want to know whats the difrence with mr bush useing the name and J.F.K and others that have. Thank you
Because we have more access, coverage, media 24 hrs a day, internet, blogs, etc. now, we are "instantly" informed of what is going on…well, most of the time, if the media is not biased, say like Fox and Rush Limbaugh…conservative props for the administration…
His deeds to know match his "beliefs" in God…he is a hyprocrite…
… or, maybe it is because society is slowly growing up, and therefore, nowadays, more and more people are bothered to hear their leaders invoke or act on behalf of an uncertain concept that should never be mentioned in politics.
CRC
Yes, it is scary…and Bush plays it up to the hilt…I actually heard a woman on TV say, "He was sent from God"…now that is scary…Bush is following in Reagan’s footsteps…however, I believe that he goes overboard…and besides…I never see him go to church, except, of course, when it is politically advantageous for him…
He acquired religion when he got a DUI and "according to accounts"…Laura told him, "it’s me or the booze"…so he found religion to help him overcome his addiction…I never hear him say he is a recovering alcoholic…That might set people on their heels…To say, I am a born again Christian…well, that statement is a positive one to born again’s and evangelicals…and all back-sliding protestants…
He said that his belief helps him to be President…and that he believes that any president should have religion…I guess that gets him off the hook for all of the crimes he has committed, war crimes, corruption, cheating, etc…After all, he was sent by God…so he must be right…I never remember in the Bible Jesus sanctioning corruption, cheating, lying, war crimes? Has anyone else?
ikorrellim/crc95: I agree with your assessments totally. I find that a sensible discussion in the USA over separation of Church and State is becomming more and more difficult. Again, the French have more experience in this area and know how dangerous it can become. Donerail
crc95: When George Bushie Junior croaks, do you suppose there would be room for him in the Invalides next to N. Bonaparte? That would be fitting. The Chimp and the Shrimp. Donerail
donerail: That would be a fitting burial for the Chimp. Both were or are war mongers. They should feel very happy together.
LVB: I agree. Wow, this site has really been exciting since the Administrator instituted censorship. Donerail
ever sence kfowler5 vanished its been well dull wouldnt you say lol
Your cruelty and rudeness chases away everyone who joins momentarily and you have the unmitigated gall to blame it on the administrator. Somehow I’m not surprised.
So far as I can tell, nothing has been "censored" since it was announced that the Terms of Service would be followed . . . as they should have been all along.
Has it occurred to anyone that new posters leave as soon as they discover the attitude of the very few who post regularly, combined with the fact that this is a traditionally slow season, may account for the lack of forum participation.
You have actually called for the censorship of those who are brave enough to disagree with you. The only censorship that appears to bother you is censorship of your own posts. That seems somewhat hypocritical.
I’m sure this will draw your ire since I’ve already been judged and condemned by a certain very vocal forum member.
To the rest of you . . . Happy Valentine’s Day!
Well, well, well. I see that The Person Who Is Always Offended is still out there. TPWIAO said she wasn’t going to reply to any of my posts. I guess its just another pathetic example of TPWIAO’s true nature. Not only is she extremely thin skinned and defensive, she is also cowardly. She likes to take cheap shots and then bails out when it gets too hot in the Forum. I thought she had resigned hereself to being just boring. I guess not. Donerail
SalB: I almost forgot to tell you. Your last post was terribly uncreative and – might I add – very boring. Same old accusations and insults. Donerail: Not at all, don’t mind, I’ve never seen you as SalB is seeing you. Since I’m on this forum, I’ve noticed that there was a "love" story between you two, and I’ve always prefered to keep away : I wouldn’t like to receive a dish in your next couple fight:-)
More seriously, I’ve not understood what is exactly the problem between Salb and you, but I’d really like to stand out of it, so I won’t give my opinion or any advice ( if advices were good, it wouldn’t be given, but sold!)
Another subject: Are you still travelling to LaFrance ( as you said ) soon?
Montjoly.
Montjoly: Thank you for the input. Yes, the trip to France is on for 2 1/2 weeks at the end of April and beginning of May. We’re going to the Loire Valley and then to the Midi-Pyrenees before returning to Paris for a couple of days. LaFrance is so nice. Donerail
Congratulations on your upcoming trip, Donerail. Bon Voyage.
donerail, When you are in the Loire, try to see the sound and light show at Azay-le-Rideau. With the setting on the water, it is quite an experience. While there, you might enjoy Restaurant la Ridelloise just around the corner. It is a very friendly place with quite good food . . . although I’ll be the first to admit I’m not a gourmet.
I assume you’ve visited the chateau and gardens at Villandry. If not, the gardens particularly are spectacular. You can park right across the street for free and have a sandwich at their little outdoor cafe before you enter the grounds.
Don’t know where you are going in the Pyrenees but any tourist bureau will have a brochure on the Cathar Route. It is very interesting and the views from any of the sites are spectacular. If you get as far as the west coast of the Mediterranean, it’s much nicer than the Riviera. You have lovely (free) sand beaches and quaint colorful little fishing villages. There is also Banyuls since I know you like your wine!
Have a grand time . . . as I know you will and don’t let Mrs. Donrail fall off the back of your Harley!
SalB: I have been putting about an hour a day in the planning for the trip. We have received a ton of literature from the various tourism offices. Azay-le-Rideau is on the scope but I have read various times for the start of the light show. Some say it starts in mid-May. If so we will miss it. I have made note of that restaurant. We’re staying the first few nights in Amboise as we found a hotel (actually a mannor) there that has had great reviews. We are also planning to see Chambord, Chennanceau, and Chalmount. We’ve found a place at Gramat (near Rocamadour) to spend a few nights as well. We’re still looking for another place further into the Pyrenees for a few nights. The list has narrowed to about 900 places. That is one of the (nice) problems with the internet. We’ve actually conversed with the innkeepers at Gramat. The have had a ton of snow recently. Mrs Donerail is psyched as well for the trip. Her only concern seems to be that she will be cooped up with Mr Donerail for two and half weeks. I can’t understand that. Donerail
For "further into the Pyrenees" for a few nights you might consider Collioure. It’s not really in the mountains; it’s on the Mediterranean. However, it is an easy drive to many places in the mountains and is the quintessential French colorful village. They have two delightful harbors with bright-colored fishing boats, a chateau and lots of restaurants right on the harbor.
Farther inland, there is Ceret which is utterly charming and Villefranche-de-Conflent, which is very touristy but beautiful and fun. There is also Prades nearby. Of the three, I would choose Villefranche although I think Collioure is nicer than all of them.
There is also a chateau listed on the Logis de France web site that might be a nice change. You might do their map search or type chateau into the search window . . . but that will bring up any Logis with chateau in the name!
We’re going over in late May, early June so I suppose I should start the lodging search too. We’re headed east into Alsace and the Jura . . .LVB’s stomping grounds!
I’m going to France at the end of April. I miss real culture!
SalB: When you go to Alsace, I can direct you to a wine shop that has the BEST Alsacian wine around. They installed a wine bar 3 years ago and now you can buy a bottle and drink it in their small cafe on the side. Or, you can do as I do and buy lots of bottles and pack them into your carry-on bag. French customs don’t harass you for taking many bottles with you. American customs won’t bother you if you smile pretty and flirt a bit.
My family lives in town there and I can personally vouch for the quality of the wine. I can also recommend some places to eat while in Alsace. In the Jura, I can alwo recommend some places to go and a Michelin restaurant in Malbuisson that has real white gloved service, the food is out of this world and the price costs very very little.
Just ask, and I will tell you some tasty spots
I forgot to add, when you go to the Jura, I can tell you where to get DA BEST smoked meats!! It’s all shrink wrapped, too, so with a little advice from La Vieille Branche, you can buy it and sneak it past American customs easily
LVB, Trust me. If I tried to flirt with a Customs official, he would gag. It’s just not my style. I did bring a six pack of Haitian rum home once. I was standing right in front of the guy holding the six pack and he asked me if I had anything to claim. Like an idiot, I forgot and said no. He smiled sweetly and passed me through. I wonder what he thought was in there with the rum I was allowed?!
We’d love names of restaurants. We’ve visited Strasbourg and south before but never done much north of it. We don’t have plans set yet, but know we’ll have nearly a week in the area. Any suggestions are appreciated . . . except perhaps smuggling suggestions.
SalB: Trust me on this, if I show you how to wrap and prepare the meats and cheeses, you won’t ever get caught by customs, or their dogs because it cannot be smelled from the outside of the suitcase. This is what I do when I bring back tasty souvenirs of France
But there is a certain way to wrap and set it inside the suitcase….if you want to know, just let me know and I’ll email you the tricks. If I posted them here, I might have some Federal agency knocking on my door tomorrow looking for a free sample…or maybe donerail would use those tricks to try to smuggle home a nice French girl
SalB: When you’re in Alsace, rent a car and drive down the route des vins. It’s an old Roman road, very narrow road that is completely surrounded by vinyards. You’d love it! While in Strasbourg, go into the old town, "La Petite France" and at a good restaruant that serves choucroute royale, have some gewertstraminer (spelling?), vendages tardives. I’t more expensive, but worth it. It’s a very fruity, but dry (on the dry side) wine. You can order a whole bottle if you want a big restaurant bill, or you can just order a glass as an aperitif. Either way, it’s wonderful.
Go to Colmar and Turckheim. You can go to the Strasbourg train station and get a ticket for Colmar. The trip is a fast 30 minutes to southern Alsace and the scenery is wonderful. You can se the Black Forest in the distance on the train
Turckheim is an OLD city that was rebuilt after WW2 in the same style, so you think the Germans/Allies never destroyed anything. It’s a tiny walled town that is very picturesque. While there, go to the town center, near the Catholic church and City Hall, and look for a wine shop called "Louis Greuhner" (check spelling). It’s a little wine shop with a small wine bar on the side. They have free wine tastings (they always did for me) and you can get DA BEST Alsacian wines there direct from the winegrower. Their wines really are wonderful!! And, YES, you can bring in multiple bottles of wine into the USA. I ALWAYS bring in many bottles, and nothing has ever happened to me. I have this small carry-on that looks like a little nothing, and I can pack 12 (yes, 12!!) bottles of wine in there and the bag does NOT look overstuffed at all. Customs here at EWR never once harassed me for the extra bottles. If anything, they said, "Have a god time!"
My website/online photo album has photos of Strasbourg and Turckheim on it, including the area where you can find the wine merchant. You might want to check it out for visual information.
Let me know where in the Jura you are going to, and I will give you information. I know of this artisinal cheese factory that makes BY HAND 40,000 wheels of conte cheese. Each wheel is about 84 lbs. They have guided tours every day, and free cheese tastings after the tour. It’s definately worth the 2 hours to see all that cheese. I have photos of that on my web site, too.
donerail: You’re going to France at the same time I am, I see… I’m going to Paris the last week of April. I hope I don’t hear of this crazy old American driving a Harley under the Arche de Triumphe or the Eiffel Tower
YIPEEEEEEEE!! I have my tickets to France for the end of April, during Spring Break!
As soon As I arrive, I’m going to put my bags away at the apartment. From there I go to Pipos wine bar/bar a vins for their plates of fromage and charcuterie..mmmmmm..and of course a bottle of good quality red Saint Emilion (spelling) costs 13 euros…I’m happy!
LVB, Congrats on your ticket. That’s fantastique!! By some odd coincidence we were forced (!) to fly to Paris rather than Munich for our German trip this spring. Peugeot’s lease program delivers in Germany but they charged an extra $400 for delivery at the Munich airport. Well, there was nothing to do but fly into Paris instead. What a pity.
We’re picking up our Peugeot in Paris, spending the night near Vitry le Francois and moving on to Strasbourg the next day. We usually stay at a little hotel outside Barr and drive into Strasbourg. You can park free at Etoile (as I assume you know) so we leave the car there. We love the Petite France section and usually eat there. I’ll check the choucroute royale but will skip the Gewurtztraminer (sp?) because it’s a bit too sweet for me. I like my wines very dry.
If we visit Colmar, it will be on the way back from Germany (since we have to fly home from Paris too!). We’ve been to Colmar and really liked it, but haven’t seen Turkheim so will check that out if we get a chance. Will definitely look up your wine shop while there! Thanks.
Okay, where do we go to see the 84 pound cheese? That sounds like my kind of tourist stop. I can live without wine (not long, but I can live) but cheese is one of life’s necessities. Do you think I could get an 84 pound wheel back into the States? Probably would blow my luggage allowance.
We don’t have airline tickets yet but we’ve rented a house in Normandy for a month next autumn. We’ve always wanted to just settle in and get to know a place so we looked at our calendar and decided to just do it! Whee.
We’re hoping we land during apple harvest in Normandy. That seemed like a fun thing to do. We’ll do some day trips and hopefully a lot of painting. We’ll be on the edge of a tiny tiny town so are planning to do a lot of walking. We’re quite excited.
Very Sad day… I like Germany a Lot..especially Munich and the Lufthansa airlines which is Partners with United Airlines which goes to Paris from SF for very cheap…and comfortable.

Danairozo: Are you into the sauce again? Donerail
Donerail… as I told La VielleBranche, I only have smoked Marlboro Lights… Yes i am into the Sauce,,, OUI. Prego, Ragu or even Heinz.
Danairozo : I think the others are right, you must be off your meds again !!! BTW, what’s a pope ?
Montjoly : tu es toujours là ? Je reviens d’une semaine de fleuve chez les Bonis et les Wayanas, et je suis en formation à Cayenne de mardi à vendredi.
CRC
Well, you all have a wonderful time here….my taxi to take me to the airport arrives in 2 hours, and I still have a few things to do.
Paris awaits!
LVB: Behave yourself going thru Customs. Donerail
Dear CRC, yes I am taking my meds on time again now….otherwise my Mother goes crazy and I don’t sleep in the nights…I think I am on France time or Philippines Time… I already apologized profusely to LaVielle Branche and even to Donerail….Donerail who is usually tolerant moreso than William the Conqueror or Madame LaFarge..hehehe. I still miss my old website I had from SalB…the one with the Webcams all over to show the streets in Toulon and Marseille where my Hotels might be… I sure liked SalB’s Jaune website when it shows the Rue des Abbesses in Paris …up by the Sacre Coeur Comfort Inn and the Cotton Club… (a long walk I must say from Roland Garros Clay Tennis Stadium). Here I thought that the Place de Concorde was the start of Renoir’s Champs Elyses..when really it was the place of La Guillotine. I always thought the Guillotine had to be next to the Bastille not far from the Tour Eiffel. PS: I think the best Airfare prices to Europe can be found on this website, but I really want my frequent flyer miles when I use this site for trips on IcelandAir or United or AirFrance/KLM.
crc97320: Je serais à St Laurent dans un mois. Je t’appelle quand j’arrive.
