Hello everyone,
I am attending a wedding reception in Gisors in late August and looking for recommendations on lodging. I’ve found a couple: the Hotel Moderne and the Chateau de la Rapee. I’m looking for something charming, immaculate, and in a great part of town. Any recommendation short of camping is welcome as well as any expertise on the two I’ve already mentioned.
Thank you ~ chercher
P.S. Could someone also please explain what "half board" means?
5 Read MoreHi! I found this website tonight and am elated! I live in USA midwest, I’m 35 and a mortgage banker. I have two sons and look forward to vacationing in Paris in the future. My heritage is French and I am just thrilled to find such an informative and diverse site. I have been reading the debate and it’s just shocking to see how much French hate USA and USA hate French. I wasn’t prepared for the hostile conversations going back and forth! I’m too happy right now to take sides. Just saying hello!

I will be in the region in early October, but would like to correspond first via MSN messenger (I also have pictures to send). I do speak and write some French and am currently taking classes to enhance this.
Merci

Obviously, we don’t want to drag our luggage around with us. And while I’d like to assume that there are places to check it (two people’s worth surely wouldn’t fit in a locker?), it would be very inconvenient to be wrong.
Unfortunately, I haven’t been able to find a map of Gare du Nord or Gare du Est… and, as I don’t speak French, I’m not sure that I’d recognize "left luggage booth" or "baggage check" if I had one.
Can anybody help?

I am a French citizen and have been living in the USA for 7 years now.
I always find very interesting what poeple think about culture differences between our 2 countries.
Let me start with one.
Maybe it is only from my personnal experience but, as an engineer in France, it is impossible to go home at night before 7:00pm.
Try to leave at 5pm and everybody is going to think that work is not your priority…here, if I am done my work I can get home by 5…at least from time to time and without being judged…
What do you think?
Other examples that might be true or false?
Jissou.

A hearse brimming with lilies – the symbol of the French crown – delivered a crystal vase containing the heart to the Saint-Denis Basilica. There, it was placed in a royal crypt containing the remains of Louis XVII’s parents, Marie-Antoinette and Louis XVI.
After 200 years of mystery surrounding the boy’s fate, DNA tests have convinced many historians that the relic passed secretly from person to person is truly the royal heart.

She symbolizes the “Triumph of the Republic”, a bronze sculpture overlooking the Place de la Nation in Paris. Her profile stands out on the official seal of the country, is engraved on French euro coins, and appears on French postage stamps; it was also featured on the former French franc coins and banknotes.

This is to inform you that a brand new little site has opened, which is intended to promote exchanges between francophones and non-francophones, and to aid French learners in perfecting their mastery of the French language.
The main features are a chatroom and several forums. The chatroom is a dynamic tool for non-native French speakers and a meeting place for native speakers. Don’t hesitate to drop in and practice your French – no one will make fun of you and I promise that it will help you to speak French better!
