Closed for safety reasons in 1993 after a metal bolt fell from the ceiling, the fin-de-siecle masterpiece has been renovated at a cost to the state of more than $85 million and is now poised to take back its place as one of the French capital’s prime cultural attractions.
Tens of thousands of tourists and Parisians are expected to visit the vast domed palace on the right bank of th river Seine for an initial two-week opening, after which it will gradually revert to its original function as a space for artistic and trade shows.

I have an 11 year old daughter who is studying at the French school in Singapore. If anyone there is able to assist me with information on schools, apartments, rentals, etc, I appreciate it very much. Thank you.

I am trying to find someone from France to interview for a college assignment. I haven’t had any luck on the chat websites I’ve found. Here are the questions, if anyone could help me I would greatly appreciate it.
1. Culture and/or country of interviewee:
2. How do people greet each other ?(shake hands, bow, embrace, other)?
3. As a visitor to the country, would you exchange gifts at the first meeting? What gifts are considered appropriate? If flowers, what kind? (Some have special meanings.)
4. How are children educated? At what age do they begin school? Do boys and girls generally go to separate schools, or are they separated by sex in the same school?
5. What is the literacy rate for the country?

Hey! My name’s Justin and I’m looking for someone who would like to exchange emails with me to help me improve my French, and perhaps help someone with their English as well. I’m a 20 year old male and I’d prefer someone in my age range, male or female. I’m an interesting enough individual so I’m sure not bore you! I’m currently in college in the state of Indiana in the USA. Hit me back a note if you’re interested in a new friendship and helping out a culturally disadvantaged American!

3 Read MoreWent brilliantly. Paris is a truely beautiful city and has to be a must for anyone to visit. The metro system must be second to none and even Gare Du Nord wasn’t as bad as I had taken from here. Nice was a bit dull but a nice place to relax and close to Monte Carlo. The French people were mostly very kind and helpful as I addressed them intially in French and they replied in English, recognising that I had made the effort. All in all, a brilliant trip.
1 Read MoreHi,
I’m trying to plan about a 10-12 day trip to France in Dec-Jan (looking around Dec 21-Jan 2). I definitely want to spend some time in Paris, maybe Nice and a day in Bordeaux (I’d really like to visit Lafite if possible). I’m also wondering if tourist attractions will be closed b/c of the holiday.
Our budget is probably average (clean, private bathroom a must), with a nice splurge for our 1st anniversary on the 30th.
Any suggestions are welcome especially, how to book, tours vs no tours, transportation, hotels, must sees…
Thanks!

As an American it is getting a little annoying this French bashing I’m hear ring all the time. Just because France voted against going into Iraq, you would have thought she had committed a crime. I myself love France. That doesn’t mean I love my own country any less. I, myself think we should all leave the Mideast alone. Maybe then then they will leave us aloan. So much for that. Are there any cute French guys fifty to sixty years old who would like to be my pen pal. I’m divorced, have been for quite a while. I have a lot of other interests than politics. I like to talk and I love pugs(little dogs). I don’t know hardly anyone around here. I live in a small town outside of od Lexington VA.
