Christian-Jaque carefully wraps his film in many layers of artificiality, like a beautifully dressed and made up actress, to prevent any misunderstanding about what we are about to see : « Historytainment », rather than a scholarly lecture in colour about the roots of French Revolution, though we shall witness the joyful deliquescence of a « Régime » which, before the century ends, shall have become « ancien », or past.

The French Provincial Kitchen
French provincial kitchens only exist outside France. The average French kitchen is a modest, uncluttered, practical affair. It is not designed to be an exotic showroom of carpentry and exquisite furniture. We do not crowd the walls with cook books, artworks, eccentric displays of dried herbs and other paraphernalia. We don’t suspend pots and pans and other jangling ironmongery from the ceiling. We like to keep our gadgets and our utensils out of sight, just as we hate to smell what we’re cooking throughout the house. Cooking smells, like cooking equipment, are confined to the cuisine and the salle de manger. Just as good food must appear effortless and fresh so must the kitchen appear spotless and ready to burst into action at a moment’s notice.

Exercise Caution when Scheduling Tours…
We scheduled an Eiffel Tower dinner and Siene cruise tour for 308 Euros and at the last minute my wife came down sick and we could not reschedule the excursion. I attempted to reschedule although no one replied until a day later with a terse reply, Quote:  "I feel sorry for you it is not possible. There is nothing I can do for you. The cruise was booked for May 30. And regarding cancellation the tour operator requires a minimum of 2 days before the departure of the tour.

locate a family I knew back in the 1950"s in Les Ormes France
   I lived in Les Ormes, France in the mid 50's on Rue Du Pont. A family I knew on the some street by the name of Monsier, Madame Raymond, and daughter Michell and Nicole. Nicole ( Nicky ) married a Claude Roy and had one son Phippe in te 1960"s. If anyone has any information about the Raymonds or the Roys please contact them or me so that I may make contact with them. Faced with a terrible film, a resourceful viewer, and irrepressible positive thinker, mines it for hidden reasons that may give it a hint of interest.
In such a perspective, even « Les anges de l’apocalypse » is not an absolute waste of time : the film provides clues about Besson’s amazing success, if not as a scriptwriter or a filmmaker, as a business man.

Just returned from a great holiday in the south of France Aquitaine, Lot-et-Garonne, I wanted to rent a gite direct with the property owner and not use a travel agent. I came across serveral websites that advertised gite rental. However, the one we used was www.SimplyGites.com it was an easy to use site, and put us in contact with the owner. It was a great experience and would recommend it to anyone.
