Basilique St-Sernin, Toulouse

Saint-Sernin basilica located in Toulouse, France was built during the Romanesque Period between AD 1080 and 1120. It is located on the site of a previous, 4th century basilica which contained the body of Saint Saturnin or Sernin. He was the first bishop of Toulouse in AD 250 and martyred by pagan priests, who tied him by his feet to a bull which dragged him about the town until the rope broke.

Description

Saint-Florent (Corsican: San Fiurenzu) is a small town on the French island of Corsica.

Access

The town has no airport – the nearest is in Bastia, about 45 minutes' drive. There is no train station. You can arrive by boat as the town has a marina. There is a large free car park on the road towards the cathedral.

Access

There are busses from other major Corsican towns, and ferries from other locations. If driving to town in the summer months, it is best to arrive very early, before 10 (or even 9 in August) to ensure parking near the town center. On cloudy or rainy days in August traffic jams may stretch 2 hours long getting into or through town.
