The way I see it is that you have two very proud nations that are extremly nationalist. France is ,of course, a very old nation where it’s idenity has developed over a thousand years. After all the Holy Roman Empire began in the year one thousand ( I hope I spell the name right) Charmane was by the pope as the emperer. The US looks like an upstart to the europeans and I can see why, we really are the new kids on the block, and yet because we are so powerful We look like we trying to muscle our projects through the UN..I love my country too much to critize her to another country,but our presiden has a low opinion rating and still droping. Maybe someday soon we all can drop our false pride and come together on the things we do agree on. We have more in comm than differences.

I so hope these straned relations between France and the US will get better. I think thaat most Americans just don’t understand. French people are very patriotic just as we are. Americans don’t want to be told what to do,but neither does France. My Last name is Gimbert,a French name. I gave up years ago trying people to pronouce it proporly, Everyone thinks it’s Gilbert, I correct them and They just think my name is strange. There are only a few Gimberts in this country. I am trying to find someone from France to interview for a college assignment. I haven’t had any luck on the chat websites I’ve found. Here are the questions, if anyone could help me I would greatly appreciate it.

1. Culture and/or country of interviewee:
2. How do people greet each other ?(shake hands, bow, embrace, other)?
3. As a visitor to the country, would you exchange gifts at the first meeting? What gifts are considered appropriate? If flowers, what kind? (Some have special meanings.)
4. How are children educated? At what age do they begin school? Do boys and girls generally go to separate schools, or are they separated by sex in the same school?
5. What is the literacy rate for the country?
