Our deal: We arrive at Charles De Gaulle at 7:30 AM and have a 10:36 A.M. reservation from Paris East Station to Strasbourg. What is the best way from the airport to the Paris East train Station?
Is the best choice via train, taxi, bus?
Any help is *greatly* appreciated. Thank you.
Cheers,
Frankie

FRankie/Chalkpie: If you know what you’re doing and don’t have much baggage, the train/metro is the most efficient and least costly. However, if you haven’t done the train(RER)/metro thing before, I would opt for the cab to Gare d’Est. Donerail
Thanks Guys for the help. Given an "average" morning, about how far/ how long would a cab ride take from the airport to East Station? Thanks.
Frankie
Chalkpie: About an hour. Donerail
You’re a little ahead of rush hour which is good. Try to get an express train. It’s MUCH faster.
SalB – When you say say express train, which are you refering to?
Do I need a reservation in advance?
Thanks.
Frankie
The express trains are pretty well marked. They make some stops, but not as many as the regular trains. You do not need reservations. I haven’t checked the schedule so don’t even know if there is an express. I believe someone gave you the ratp web site above so you can check there or simply ask when you buy your tickets.
If you have a lot of luggage, you might be happier taking a taxi. We only take a carryon and a backpack each so don’t mind the train.
chalkpie,
I wrote a post a few days ago in response to a guy who complained about the CDG – Paris commuting train. It’s in the ‘Transportation’ forum, you might want to have a look at it, I think it might answer some of your questions.
Bon voyage & bonne route.

Here is the French train web site in English. You can plug in your dates and times and get a schedule and cost.
If you have to connect from CDG to one of the stations in town, use the following web site for the Metro (subway).
