Hi. This afternoon I couldn’t get on France.com even though I had no trouble getting on other sites. This evening the "Today’s" and "Last 24 Hours" sections are empty. Is this because everyone had trouble getting on today or are you working on the web site?
Thanks. I was just curious.

I didn’t have any problems with access. Looks like Stockton, Maryland didn’t have any trouble either. As for the other folks, I think you and The Administrator may have driven them all away. Donerail
We do not seem to have connectivity issues.
Where you trying to log in when the site was under maintenance? A message shows up to let you know that the maintenance is going on?
Forums Admin
There was no indication that site maintenance was going on. I was at my usual home computer and had no trouble logging onto a couple other travel web sites. It looks like everything is okay except for my nemesis who can’t stop blaming everything except the Iraq war on me. That may be coming; who knows?! (It must be love since I’ve studiously avoided answering him in any way and he can’t stop mentioning my name or his charming nickname for me. Perhaps he’ll find another soon . . . )
Thank you for your reply.
I think "The Person Who Is Always Offended" is a perfect name. The acronym TPWIAO, first coined by crc95, is even better. Love, Donerail
I always thought from the beginning you two were in love, I just didn’t dare saying it loud.
SalB : if I remember correctly, you are a registered GOP, therefore, you are somewhat responsible for the war on Iraq.
Donerail : as far as I’m concerned, no one has driven me away. I was just hung up on miscellaneous global dramas and world class events, such as feeding tubes (Terri’s, the Pope’s, Rainier’s, etc.), and the Equipe de France’s failure to qualify in the next World Cup.
Oh, and I was also busy moving out and in : I guess Montjoly must have converted me to the charms of French Guiana, cos I decided to move there. So far, so good. To be continued in the next episode !

crc95: Bummer about the world cup. Congratulations, though, on the move. The move is going to be quite a change of scenery and has to be incredibly exciting. I guess you won’t have to worry about snow for a while. I presume you will be at Kourou or Cayenne. In any event, I hope you enjoy the change and I also hope you will continue to visit here. Unless, of course, the TPWIAO gets the Administrator to ban either one of us or both of us. Donerail
crc95, Remember, I registered GOP so I could vote against these idiots in the primary elections. I’ve never voted Republican in my life and certainly am not going to start now. Don’t blame me for Mr. Bush’s evil war. I actually wrote to him and told him not to start it. He didn’t listen to me for some reason.
Did you really move? That’s pretty drastic. We’re driving through your old home town next month . . . on our way to Alsace and Germany. I’ll think of you as we zip by.
Bonne chance!
SalB : wow, I cannot believe Chimp didn’t listen to you nor replied to your letter. How long was it ? How many dozens of pages ? 🙂
I cannot believe either that you are going to actually drive through Lyon without stopping to visit. I mean, you can’t claim to know France so well if you never visit its second or third largest town !! With all its history, with its finest gastronomie, and with its unbelievable soccer team. I strongly suggest you changed your plans. Hey I’ve been to LA. Waste of time and money, but I’ve been there, I have a Hard Rock Cafe t-shirt to prove it.
Donerail : I’m neither in Kourou nor Cayenne, these places still belong to the civilization. Only pansy azz losers prefer to live there. I am in Saint-Laurent-du-Maroni, a French sous-préfecture located right in the middle of nowhere. But, we’re on the border with Suriname … which, okay, is still in the middle of nowhere. Did you know the CIA calls French Guiana "the only non independant part of South America" ? Who are they kidding ?? lol
You’d be amazed by the number of Americans I’ve seen here. Missionaries, mostly. They’re very easy to spot : the only ones to wear a tie.

crc95, It was about a half page. Nobody reads long letters. I actually got an e-mail from his staff that they had received it. No one was stupid enough to tell me they read it.
We’re not going through Lyon. I thought you were working in Cergy-Pontoise. We’re not actually going through it, but will be in the area. We land at CDG southeast of it and are driving on to Thieblemont for the night and on to Strasbourg for two days. The purpose of the trip is actually to visit Germany and Austria where we’ll spend a month. It was just much cheaper to lease a car in France and drive to Germany so we did it. I never pass up a chance to visit France!!
Next fall we’re spending a month in Normandy southeast of Caen in a little country village. We’ll think of you then too.
SalB : ok, my mistake. Still, you gotta see Lyon sometimes.
Why drive through Cergy to get to Alsace ? Cergy is on the northwestern side of Paris, so you’d better hit the road through the nothern suburbs of Paris from CDG.

To quote my previous post? "We’re not actually going through it, but will be in the area. We land at CDG southeast of it and are driving on to Thieblemont . . . "
You’re right. We both want to see Lyon some time. Did you really move?
