People are very nice, nothing common with all the stereotype that u probably heard, worth to visit, at least once, and after all, it is not the most visited country worldwide and by far for nothing…
ManuNice, I think oddone is talking about posts on this forum. There is a lot of negativity here. I’m glad (s)he stayed and posted and thank you for answering in a very positive manner.
oddone, In France there is a café for every taste, both in people and in food. There are cafés lining most downtown streets and many more in each neighborhood. You walk around and find one you like and then enjoy it.
Some things are a little different there. For instance, you may order a coffee (or other food or drink) and the table is yours for as long as you wish to use it. There is no pressure to order more or to leave so other customers can use the table. You don’t get your check until you ask for it. Some tourists think the service is slow because of this because you can wait forever for the check if you don’t know you have to ask for it. It’s kind of funny when you think about it, but I guess it wouldn’t be funny if you were in a hurry.
There is more variety in French menus and the food tends to be more seasonal than in the US. They don’t have our shipping problems so their produce is always nice and fresh and it isn’t picked until it’s ripe so the taste is really great.
On the down side, it’s hard to eat a really quick meal although that is changing in recent years. There are streetside sandwich shops and McDonalds has invaded too.
Welcome to the Forum.
oddone: we’re not anti-French or anti-American (well,..except for a few people). We’re mostly anti-Bush and are against his foreign policies and foreign oil wars. Other than that, we love everybody!
soooooooooo……
WELCOME! To the FORUMS!!
Manu: what a beautiful photo!! It brings back happy memories of the 8 days I spent in Nice and the surrounding Provence region
ManuNice, The photo is gorgeous. I can’t believe a sky can be that blue. Wow, will it be that pretty in October? We’ve only been to Nice in the summer. We’re really looking forward to our visit.
thanks for the welcome. this might seem like and odd Q to ask but dos france has gang problems?I ask cuz well where i live we do.And when i was in japan realy wasnt a big problem like where i live now.And whats the night life like? What do french kids do for fun out there?Well thanks for the welcome.
oddone : there are gangs in France, but maybe not the type you are thinking of. Our gangs are rather like a bunch of friends who grew up in the same desolated suburban neighbourhood and stick together for mutual protection or organized crime, mainly drug dealing. They are not the ritual kind you see in L.A., you know, like wearing colors, pledging allegiance and all.
Manu-nice : sorry about what Lyon did to the OGC yesterday. I hope you people don’t feel too humiliated
