Bon Appétit! La Fête De La Gastronomie Is Back

Bon Appétit! La Fête De La Gastronomie Is BackGastronomy and France – they go together like wine and cheese, fruit and nuts… see our point? So it should come as no great surprise then, that since 2011, the French, with typical Gallic passion, have been celebrating their gastronomic traditions by holding festivals dedicated to all things delicious.

This year’s last summer weekend – 26, 27, & 28 September – sees the 4th annual Fête de la Gastronomie taking place at locations across the country, including some which are taking place at UNESCO world heritage sites. Last year’s food festival featured over 2000 separate events, and this year’s celebration of all things culinary looks to be just as good, if not better.

If you are going to, or planning to be in l’Hexagone at the end of the month, expect to see people taking to the streets, armed with delicious dishes to share. The festival is also a time to exchange recipes and tips, and restaurants and chefs will be creating special menus for the weekend, which will of course, be available for public tasting. Plus they will be available for talks and discussions, and even to exchange ideas or to pick up some professional hints.

In addition, there’ll be plenty of opportunity to try out a whole host of new, or unfamiliar foods, and old favorites too. And if that isn’t enough to whet your appetite, there’ll also be ample chance to discover more about dish and wine pairings… with of course, more tasting opportunities!

To find out more about how to join in with the celebrations, and discover fantastic French fare for yourself, head over to the official website of Fête de la Gastronomie, then head to the streets and parks to give your taste buds a real treat!

Bon appétit!
