French writers such as Paul Valery, Andre Gide and Paul Claudel would meet at “La Maison des Amis du Livre” located at #7, while at #12, James Joyce, T.S.Eliot., S.Fitzgerald, E.Hemingway and G.Stein would get together in the bookshop “Shakespeare and Company.
