Anne d'Anjou

On the banks of the Loire, below the castle, this very beautiful building from the 18th century attests the gentle way of life in the valley of the Kings. The serene and regular facade has been listed as a historic building as its stairs with a wrought-rion banister worthy of the greatest palaces of that time. The signs of the past have been retained in the tastefully decorated 45 bedrooms. The most prestigious one, being of the purest empire style, was originally designed by Percier and Fontaine, architects to napoleon 1st. The Saumur Castle overlooks the lovely inner court yard. The Chef’s daring and refined cooking is full of spontaneity and inventive passion. As the seasons go by, the country product is always present, served with some specially selected Loire wines. The restaurant Les Menestrels has a view of the Castle, another onto the gardens of the Hotel and a vaulted cellar.. It has also a stylish table with fine decorations, in a setting of tuffeau stone and antiques.
