Villa Savoye a Poissy
- The essence of the monument
La villa Savoye se visite comme une maison à habiter.
Découverte à la sortie d'un sous-bois, la villa est un parallélépipède blanc posé sur l'herbe.
Pour y entrer il faut la contourner. Attiré par la blancheur, la lumière qui vient d'en haut, on monte par une rampe qui invite à la promenade. Elle permet de contempler la courbe stricte de l'escalier et s'ouvre sur une grande terrasse autour de laquelle s'organisent les pièces à vivre.
A l'étage on peut choisir sa chambre parmi deux pièces calmes desservies par un couloir bleu, ou préférer une suite : chambre, boudoir et salle de bain, celle-ci magistralement mise en scène par la lumière zénithale.
S'imaginer, pourquoi pas :
recevant ses amis sur la terrasse protégée des vents et dominant le jardin ; préparant un repas dans une grande cuisine fonctionnelle ; devisant dans le salon, autour de la cheminée ; ou s'installant, s'il fait beau, tout en haut sur le pont, dans une chaise longue dominant le paysage pour être encore plus près du ciel, de la lumière, du soleil…et se sentir maître des lieux.
Appelée "les heures claires" par Pierre et Eugènie Savoye, ses propriétaires, c'est une maison de week-end conçue, en 1930, par l'architecte, Le Corbusier.
- Monument
The Villa Savoye, in Poissy, which was built by Le Corbusier between 1928 and 1931, is considered as one of his major works, and even as one of the masterpieces of 20th century architecture.
The villa was designed for a rich insurer, Mr. Savoye, and was the result of several years of formal research which revolutionised the traditional codes of residential architecture. The building was constructed in the form of a white parallelepiped with a smooth exterior surface punctuated by a row of windows. It is supported by thin pillars and topped by a roof-terrace. The house sits in the middle of a field, a prime example of a new architectural vision.
