THE SITE

Once upon a time, there was an enchanting forest in La Petite Pierre.

The only thing the forest lacked was a glade. One day, Angèle and Robert Strohmenger came upon the forest and immediately fell in love with it. Their passionate dedication and determination eventually led to the creation of La Clairière in 1981, and its staff and guests live happily ever after.

The different features of the hotel were developed in gradual succession, and the final result is truly outstanding. In 1991, La Clairière had fifty guest rooms, six rooms equipped with seminar facilities, and an indoor swimming pool. In 1998, we invested in a team-building Challenge Course – a totally new concept in France. 2005 marks another important step, the introduction of a health spa: 1000m2 devoted to relaxation.

The story behind the creation of La Clairière manifests our on-going commitment to offering you a holistic experience of wellbeing. Indulge both body and mind through your senses and let us lead you to a realm of pleasure, satisfaction and contentment, leaving you feeling refreshed and revived.

THE SPA

The spa is an exclusive sanctuary of wellbeing.

All 950m² of it are dedicated to immersing your body and mind in a state of total relaxation, leaving you feeling refreshed and revitalised. Let the sunlit contours of the trees and the warm forest tones soothe your body and mind as you relax in the whirlpool or in the stainless steel heated (30°) outdoor hydrotherapy pool. Seek out the tepidarium where the aromatic fragrances prepare you for a spell in the sauna, or for an enhanced experience with special lighting effects, the light sauna. The aromatic steam bath awakens the senses and clears the respiratory tract, while generating a natural instinct to dive into the ice pool for a toning friction bath of ice nuggets, leaving you refreshed and revitalised. Round off the session with a well earned rest in the fresh air or beside the tepidarium pool.

In order to help you keep fit, a wellness gym equipped with state-of-the-art technogym cardio facilities remains at your disposal at all times. Or if you prefer, you may choose to swim a few lengths in the crystal clear waters of our indoor swimming pool.

The spa experience is most effective when complemented with a visit to the Refugium, a sanctuary of treasures from the earth . Here, our team of qualified therapists will help you choose from a range of 100% natural, holistic treatments, to suit your face and body.

Whichever combination you opt for, this is the perfect place to replenish your vital energy and restore equilibrium to body and mind.

THE 4 ELEMENTS

Open yourself up to the natural environment and let the aura of the forest replenish your vital energy. The exceptional location of La Clairière enables you to experience a perfect blend of Nature’s four elements: water, earth, air and fire – the fundamental basis of natural harmony. Our concept of holistic wellbeing captures this harmony and presents it to you in an ideal setting, with effective treatments designed to replenish your vital energy, keeping you healthy and instilling in you a genuine sense of wellbeing. This concept is based on a theory of turning to Nature for the means to strengthen or activate our natural defences.

THE REFUGIUM

Here you will find a mine of natural and holistic treatment methods, each one remarkably effective at generating a sense of calm from the very depths of your being and helping you rid yourself of everyday stresses and strains. Our treatments involve a wide range of products modelled on the very best that nature has to offer, composed of ingredients specially selected for their biodynamic properties.

Balneotherapy, body wraps using the dry float technique, luscious body and facial treatments based on the four elements – all these will help your body and mind to regain their natural balance. Expect to be pampered from head to toe by our therapists, all expert in the field of organic beauty treatments. They will discuss your individual needs and preferences in the comfort of one of six atmospheric therapy rooms to ensure that you receive the best possible care and attention. Following your treatment, simply lie back luxuriously on one of the beds in the relaxation room and allow yourself to become absorbed in the forest view through the wall of windows.

At some point during your stay, make sure you drop in at Le café Nature where you will find a selection of delicious refreshments and organic snacks, not forgetting the library in the Lounge – an inspiring source of innovative ideas and sound advice on how to maintain your precious sense of wellbeing. With this in mind, continue your spa experience on returning home by taking advantage of the excellent range of beauty care products and related accessories available in the boutique.
