Allain, My French is not meant for tranlating. I’m okay talking to people because we can stop and explain. There are a couple words I never heard of and I’ve put them in italics although I have no idea if this forum will allow italics. Here is a VERY rough translation. I wish you luck figuing it out. Have fun. SalB
"This note is in French. Since you have internet, you
will translate easily as you go. We come to wish
you a Happy New Year and our every wish for
happiness for 2006. What you do as a job? Do you
have a future wife in uve? We ask you a lot of
questions about your suset. It is not easy of having
a son so far, the communication is difficult at our
home. The health is good. Dad is in good shape.
Louka will be be two years old January second. He
is an adorable little boy.
There is always a lot of work at the home of briand,
but life in france is more and more difficult. The
euro doesn?t favor us. We regreissons. there are
more and more people without work, without a
roof. The misery gets settled. Misfortune
reusement. In waiting of your news t?embrassons
very strong on one of these days."
Allain, As I suspected, the italics disappeared when I posted it. Anything still in the original French is something I have no idea what it means . . . at least in this context. I think the person who wrote you expected you to put it through a translation engine on the Internet. You might tell them that a translator won’t work when they type in all capital letters (besides it being extremely difficult to read) and also they need to put in the accents for it to translate.
You might want to do a Google for Babelfish or some other translator you could use. I’m sure it would be much better than my efforts. Perhaps one of the French people online here will translate it for you.

The Judeo-Christian ethic brought humanity to the west, this includes eastern Europe. Even after seventy-five years of persecution, The people of old Russia have morals. When I say morals, I don’t mean sex, I mean knowing right from wrong. It’s sad what’s happening in Russia now, Criminals have formed their own underground government. As for me, I want to learn French. I pretty much understand my old Jacque Brel records, but I want to really learn French. Everyone over there know of my distant cousin, the racer Gimbert. No one in this country ever heard my name. They think my name is Gilbert. My feeble advice foe France is, don’t give up your culture. France isn’t America, we take in people from every place in the world. The French are a people,a race, and a unique language. Stand firm, don’t give in to anyone, yet be at peace with all.
pug2, Perhaps you meant this to be in another thread. I doesn’t have anything to do with anything on this thread. You could copy and paste it into he correct thread.
