PRESENTATION OF THE MONTPARNASSE QUARTER

Centrally located and easily accessible, the Montparnasse district promises a day of relaxation and a fun evening.

Stroll through the streets; enjoy cultural visits or even some shopping at the foot of the tower where you will find the great shopping center Galeries Lafayette. Theatres and museums as well as bars, brasseries (La Coupole, La Closerie des Lilas…) and night clubs or cabarets (Bobin'o) are all within walking distance.

Montparnasse is still as lively as ever and attracts an international crowd. A popular, active neighbourhood, its train station was once the gateway to Paris for Bretons from Brittany who came to seek their fortune in the capital.

Until the 1940s, painters, writers and poets belonging to the “Ecole de Paris movement” found here inexpensive lodging and workshops, the most famous being "La Ruche". The artists formed a community, near the publishing houses of the Boulevard Saint Germain and the art dealers of the Luxembourg district.
