I start today with a paradisiac place here, in French Guiana: "les iles du Salut".
French Guiana is situated on the north east of south america, between Brazil and Surinam, and "les iles du salut are situated at 7 or 8 miles from Kourou, where you can find the Europe space port.
It’s a 30 minutes cruise from Kourou and yesterday, the weather was sunny: no wind, no cloud, no waves…
The "iles du salut" are three little islands: Royal, the bigger one where there is a little hotel, Saint Joseph, the nicest one if it can exist a nicest one, and Le diable, forbidden to visit.
You had there the more cruel french jail, where Dreyfuss and Papillon have been. Walking over the islands, you’ll find the ruins of those jails and discover how bad were treaten the prisoners. Guantanamo is a joke compared to it, and you’ll be terrified walking in the middle of the cells. Now, trees have grown in the jail, destroying walls and doors, and the hell of the jail guys became the paradise of the fishers.
The see is green, and the water hot and clear. Yesterday, in about 3 hours of fishing, I took for quite 100lb of fish. For those who don’t like fishing, you can have a little promenade: The three islands are covered by coco and palm trees, you’ll meet there Aras, Caiman, Agouti, Monkeys, Iguane, etc…
The nights are sweet and full of stars .
The coldest moment is by 4 o’clock in the morning, and the temperature is 24 or 25 °C, and the hotest is by 1pm, with 31 or 32°C. There’s no flies, and nothing to suck the white skins blood.
It’s a real paradise on earth.
