A bevvy of important government heads including Spain’s Crown Prince Felipe, Prime Minister Mariano Rajoy, Catalan President Artur Mas, and Minister of Development, Ana Pastor joined in the inauguration of the country’s first high-speed rail line between Barcelona and Figueres (or Figueras as it’s known in French)
The announcement is of some importance to travelers to France, since it means that the French TGV will be able to make their way from Paris to Barcelona in a few hours.
The route from Barcelona to the border city of Figuere is operational from today, trains running in each direction,and in April the northbound trains will link to France’s TGV line to Paris.
