bimal: "budget" and Paris is a stretch these days but you might consider the Lord Byron. Its a three star and is located near the Arch d’Triomphe on the Rue de Chatteaubriand. It is quiet and safe and at about $100 to $125 a night it is a good deal. It is 100 yards from a place that charges 4x as much. Donerail
Hi bimal. We’ve stayed at the Hotel de la Sorbonne in the Latin Quarter and it’s about 80 euros for a double. There are a couple less expensive hotels but they are farther from the center of town.
There is a terrific search feature on this web site. Find the blue and red France.com above on the left and click on it. Then do a hotel search for Paris. When you get your selection, you can click on the name of the hotel and you will have a photo of the hotel and a typical room, prices and reader reviews. Some of these reviews are brutally honest and are a big help. We always book our Paris hotel on this web site and have never had a problem. It’s great!!
If you want to see more, go to http://photos.pagesjaunes.fr/ and type in the hotel address. You will see a photo of the hotel and underneath you can click on arrows to show you the buildings beside the hotel and often arrows looking up and down the street. This gives you a feel for the neighborhood.
La Manufacture is one very inexpensive hotel that is a bit further out from the center of town that has gotten good reviews. I haven’t stayed there so can’t recommend it, but if it’s near a Metro station, the location really isn’t very important.
Have fun looking and good luck.
