Booked this hotel based on good reviews, but were disappointed

Everywhere we looked for, we read nice things about the hotel Les Clos Medicis in St Germain, Paris. From decor to location, to service, everything sounded great. Only one of those stood up to expectations!

Starting with the positive, the location is indeed great. Right by the Luxembourg Gardens, Place de la Sorbonne, Le Pantheon. One block to secure public parking. Restaurants everywhere and, in different directions, short walks away from the Louvre, Notre Dame, Orsay, etc etc.

Decor? it might have been nice and looked very chic when it was new and not run down, but it is in urgent need of a "face lift."

Of course, we know from experience that rooms in Paris can be minuscule, however, the first "deluxe" one we were giving, beat all our past experiences. We decided to ignore it and took it…. Well, the walls were so thin, and we could hear so well the room next door, that we had to ask the front desk staff to call our neighbors in the middle of the night, and ask their children to low their voices. Nevertheless, it was a sleepless night!

In the morning we mentioned it to the front desk staff, and they, very dilengently, offered to change us and instructed to leave our luggage ready for them to move us during the day.

However, when we returned, it hadn’t happened. In addition, the gentleman on the front desk, thought it was more appropriate to keep on talking on the phone with his "sweetheart" than paying attention to us. Finally, when he finished, he got impatient with us and said he did not know anything about changing us and that he had no other rooms available.

After we told him that we would not spend another night in the same room, he offered to move us to a room that had. magically, been made available on the 5th floor. The room was nicer, bigger and in better condition than the first one, but he didn’t offer any help at all with our luggage.

Except for breakfast in the morning, you could not ask for anything else to be brought to your room during the day. Anything you could need, towells, soap, and extra blanket, you had to go down yourself and get it. Not our past expereince at 3 star hotels….

We would not go back to this place, because, after looking around, we know you can get better deals and rooms elsewhere. Besides, they serve the worse coffee we had in France, EVER!
