Does anyone know how to take an inexpensive train to Lyon? A friend told us that he used to go for the day to eat at some great restaurants. When I looked into the train prices on the Internet, I couldn’t believe how expensive they were. Am I missing something? We had a wonderful meal at La Pyramide but hated the traffic on the highway, so wanted to train down from Paris on our next visit. Thanks! kmskeating@aol.com
Does anyone know of a health club or fitness center that allows one to pay for a day or week pass? We usually stay in St. Germaine de Pres so one in the 6th or even the 5th would be great but we’d be willing to Metro to a good facility. Thanks much. kmskeating@aol.com

Raffarin also vowed to press ahead with other reforms as the government faces pressure to cut a huge public deficit as well as unemployment above the euro zone average, despite the risk of sparking protests before regional elections in March.

Charles Louis Napoleon Bonaparte (April 20, 1808 – January 9, 1873) was the son of King Louis Bonaparte and Queen Hortense de Beauharnais; both monarchs of the Kingdom of Holland.
He was elected President (1848-1852) of the Second Republic of France and subsequently Emperor (1852-1870), reigning as Napoleon III (Second French Empire). In a situation that resembles the case of Louis XVIII of France, the numbering of Napoleon’s reign assumes the existence of a legitimate Napoleon II of France who never actually ruled.
Abu Dhabi, Jan 12 – French Foreign Minister Dominique de Villepin said Monday there would be no blanket ban on Islamic headscarves in France and that a planned law to prohibit them in state schools did not target Islam.
“There will be no across-the-board ban on headscarves in France,” De Villepin told a news conference in Abu Dhabi, on the first leg of a five-nation Persian Gulf tour.

Causes
Many factors led to the revolution; to some extent the old order succumbed to its own rigidity in the face of a changing world; to some extent, it fell to the ambitions of a rising bourgeoisie, allied with aggrieved peasants and wage-earners and with individuals of all classes who were influenced by the ideas of the Enlightenment. As the revolution proceeded and as power devolved from the monarchy to legislative bodies, the conflicting interests of these initially allied groups would become the source of conflict and bloodshed.
Certainly, all of the following must be counted among the causes of the revolution:
