Well peep-holes, I’m off for a few days. Going to the good ole’ US of A. Will be back in about 10 days.
Should be pretty interesting to be there in such ‘tense’ times. I’ll tell you what I felt when I’m back. As usual, a good deal of my trip will take place in Redneckland. So, as my mom said, I hope we don’t get shot. She’s got little experience of the place, so she really meant that. I don’t.
But, if you ever see a poor guy in an orange jumpsuit weeping on a home video shown on Faux News, while some big bearded Presbyterians with shotguns are standing behind him chanting psalms and waving rebel flags, well that might just be me !
Just kidding. As usual
Take care folks, and please try to keep the loonies that occcasionally show up in here until I’m back ! And don’t you dare find the Chinese Baby while I’m away.

While you’re in the US, I’ll be hunting the Chinese baby in Nice. If it’s escaped to Italy, I’ll continue the search there.
My husband read your post and said Redneckland covered most of the US at this point. I think it was a political commentary!
WE VOTED TODAY. Now we can leave the country feeling we did our duty. I hope we can get election results in Italy!! We won’t be back in France until a couple days after the election. Of course, the last time it wasn’t over for weeks . . .
Well Salb if u stay in Nice for a bit I’ll be happy to get a nice cup of Hot Chocolate or something with u & u’re husband… Lucky you the weather is incredible…
Well folks, I’m back. Ten days in southern U.S.A., great trip, still a wonderful place to visit, not much to say about that ! Didn’t encounter any anti-French crap, and on the contrary, we got a warm welcome wherever we went, including those gas stations selling ammos and Robert E. Lee caps. By the way people, Unleaded Plus at $ 2.05 a gallon ??? Are you kidding me ?? If I were prez of the USA, I’d invade one of these oil-rich middle-eastern countries right away !!! LOL
Funniest quote from that trip :’Oh, you’s the first Europeans to walk in here. We’ve had foreigners in here before, from Ireland and from that country that hosted the olympics this summer (what’s its name ?), but never from Europe !‘
Got to see some of the debates, but not all. There are better things to do in Memphis or Nashville at night. I found the VPs’ debate quite interesting, it was the first time I got to listen to that Edwards dude, and it was enlightening. I think he could have done WAY better though, being a trial lawyer and all. Love his funny accent : the way he’d pronounce it ‘Cleh-vlan’ was just too cute.
When on the road I’d carefully spot and tally those lawn signs, and if they do reflect what people think, Kerry is to win by the landslide.
Donerail : I got to watch some base-ball, but still don’t get the rules very well. All I understood is that NYC team played against some New England town, and kicked their sorry asses, causing much humiliation to some guy named Pedro Ramirez or something (but I might be wrong).
When we left, the airport was filled with young men and women wearing desert combat fatigues, carrying big bags, not very talkative, and looking rather sullen. We stopped at some airport bar to get our last frozen Margherita, and there was one of them at a table next to us, surrounded by his whole family : even grand-ma in her wheel-chair had come. The scene was quite moving, and I must say made our Margherita even sourer. Come to think of it, some of them might already be dead by now !
So, what’s new with you guys ?

crc95: I am glad to see you had a nice trip. I hope you left plenty of Euros here to help us with our trade deficit. Did you go to Nashville and Memphis for the pork bar-b-que? Other than that, I couldn’t think of a good reason for going there. In any event I am glad you had a safe and enjoyable trip. As far as the Red Sox are concerned, something happened with my Telly and I have been unable to see them so I don’t know how the series is going. There are much more important things in this world than some silly effen base ball games. We had a visitor to the forums, dholland62, who probably would have enjoyed talking with you. I trust you have read about the Saddam/Irak oil dealings with Chirac and Putin. Not too much made of it here other than Right Wing Radio. Donerail
Donerail : I have read some of Dholland’s work and frankly I doubt that I would have replied had I been there. I’m just tired of this, tired of constantly rambling and rambling on the same stuff again. These people just don’t get it, and I believe they just don’t want to get it, no matter how hard you try to slightly open up their eyes and elevate them to the truth of the matter. Seldom in history have the lies and misdeeds of an administration made so plain clear and been so obvious to the public, and yet there are still some people to believe that yes, Saddam was Ossama’s good friend, that Iraq was an actual immediate threat to the US, that the US never had this country’s largest oil reserves in mind, that France is the new Satan, and that George W. Bush is the greatest president ever. What can you do ??
I was in Memphis and Nashville because of my main passion : music. And I wish at this point to quote the words of popular country singer Alan Jackson (from Where Were You (When The World Stopped Turning) ) :
I’m not a real political man
I watch CNN but I’m not sure I can tell you
The difference in Iraq and Iran
But I know Jesus and I talk to God …
Just how many people – and voters – could this quote apply to ?
CRC
crc95: On that quote, probably most of our Southern folk could identify with it. The Chimp certainly does, although he says he doesn’t watch TV or read the newspapers. But he does say he talks to God. Funny, I haven’t heard him calling. Donerail
CRC95, I am glad that you enjoyed your visit in the southern part of the good ole US of A. My part of the country. Do hope you return again soon. I did not hear if anyone found the Chinese baby while you was gone! Check out my visit to Paris.
Well thank you ! Where in the South are you from ?
Glad you enjoyed your trip to Paris as well. Next time you’re ready to venture out in the Province ! Tip : Lyon !
