If I could afford to stay in ANY hotel in Paris, I’d stay at the Crillon, with a room or suite that overlooks Place de la Concorde I went into one of their rooms one time when they were renovating certain areas. The rooms are decorated in gold leaf, have free-standing gold leaf full length mirrors, gold bathroom fixtures and mirrored walls with marble showers/bathtubs.
I’m turning myself into a non-profit so I can collect funds to stay at the Crillon. Anybody feel like contributing?

LVB, That sounds fantastic. My husband is a professor emeritus. Can we stay in a dormitory? Where is it? How do you contact them? We don’t often stay more than a week in Paris because I’m not a city person, but at those prices, a month would be fun.
Last time we stayed at Hotel la Sorbonne across the street from the Sorbonne. It was funny. We could look across the street right into the classrooms. When we opened our windows, we could almost hear the lectures. It’s a great neighborhood. You can walk everyplace. It’s quiet at night because there aren’t really late classes. The room was small but clean and the staff was wonderful. We really liked it, even the tiny elevator. Hey, it worked!!

Hmm . . . no more answers. Does this mean nobody goes to Paris? I don’t believe it. You are all just trying to keep your favorite hotel a secret so you don’t have to share.

We enjoyed our stay at the Hotel Verneuil. The location is great. The Musee d’Orsay is just around the corner. The staff is friendly and the hotel itself is charming. Try to book the large double rooms since the standard can be a bit small. Good value
